Marduk, Moonspell

Marduk was formed by Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson in order to form the "most blasphemous band in the world". Their musical style was that of a straight-forward death metal influenced take on black metal music, but as the years progressed their style and imagery became more of a fast and intense form of black metal. Marduk's predominant lyrical topics are Satanism, anti-Christianity, Biblical tales, death, Third Reich history and World War II. The latter two are a later addition to their lyrical/conceptual themes, stemming from their 1999 release Panzer Division Marduk. Marduk have recorded further songs relating to those chapters of human history, such as "The Hangman of Prague" (moniker of Reinhard Heydrich - second in command of the SS - in his capacity as the de facto Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia), "Night of the Long Knives," "Deathmarch" and others.

Throughout all the years of Moonspell existence I've been responsible by issuing and composing up to date Moonspell biographies maybe because I was the most familiar with writing or because I have been in ALL the moments of Moonspell story, whatever... and throughout the years I've done several biographies according to the ideological and musical oscillations and evolution's we have experienced as a band and as individuals. So I started off with very "eloquent", "poetic" biographies, totally non informative but that value for the over the top language and epicism of a really simple story.
Naturally these "novels" were totally useless for labels and promoters and I had to step to more formal biographies. I have even done a middle term one between information and delirium to magazines and fanzines that could use both sides of Moonspell biographies. So I ended up with dozens of different biographies each for its use but I was only being bureaucratic about it so I dropped the case and let Century Media do the dirty doings. But I offered my services to our Internet page so, after the biography of my biographies, I should just put into life Moonspell's current biography that I really do not know how it will turn out. So I hope you get informed about the band since this all virtual hype is information anyway but let me warn you I am not capable of doing a formal biography. But let us cut this talk before gets as boring as it got paternal so ...
The band real beginning was back in mid-1989 when myself, Ares and two other guys ,whose names are irrelevant for our history, formed a band called MORBID GOD. This was already a culmination of a long process of talking about doing a band, drawing logos, writing lyrics, designing and conceiving layouts and above all dreaming about the privilege of doing music. The closest thing to a band we had besides Morbid God was a project called ARCHANGEL (which I still think is a very good name for a band, so if you are looking for one...) where I was supposed to play drums and Ares was supposed to sing. Anyway as we realised it would be difficult and dull to have two bands with the same guys on different functions, we decide to concentrate on Morbid God as something more serious and left behind prolific names and ideas that bring a red colour to our faces when we mention them occasionally.

The band Inquisition was formed in 1988 in Cali, Colombia by Dagon. The band started as a thrash metal act, and in 1994 evolved into raw black metal.
In 1996, Dagon left Colombia and moved back to the United States to continue Inquisition and search for a new drummer. That same year Dagon met Incubus, who joined the band on drums and the creation of their debut full length album began. This line-up has remained stable for more than ten years and is now seen as the classic Inquisition line-up.
Inquisition resides north of Seattle, Washington, USA.
The band's style of black metal involves slow, deep and dark riffing combined with sudden tempo changes to faster sections based around blast beats and high-speed riffing; at times adding melodic solos. The classic Inquisition sound involves the combination of old school thrash metal-influenced riffs with darker and more chaotic black metal, primarily involving fast, tremolo picked minor-key guitar riffs, thus creating the trademark "Inquisition sound".

Live at Hole In The Sky 2008
Another notable element of the Inquisition sound is Incubus' blast beat style, in which the snare works together with the hi-hat or ride while alternating the two bass drums, as opposed to alternating the snare and kick, the more traditional form. This style is somewhat uncommon in black metal, being used much more prevalently in brutal death metal.
Dagon's voice is rather monotonous, with the intention of inducing a trance-like feeling. Dagon has said that the vocals he expresses are not to reflect that of a human, but rather that of an unseen entity in demonic form and screaming or shouting will not connect the message correctly.

the foreshadowing

Founded in 2005 by Alessandro Pace (former member of Klimt 1918, Spiritual Front & Dope Stars Inc.), later joined by Andrea Chiodetti (guitar player of Grimness, ex Spiritual Front), Francesco Sosto (keyboard player, ex Spiritual Front), the drummer Jonah Padella (Grimness), Davide Pesola on bass (Klimt 1918) and, at last, by Marco Benevento (singer of How Like a Winter), the band THE FORESHADOWING recorded its first full-length album "Days of Nothing" in 2006, mixed at Outer Sound Studio (Rome, Italy) by Giuseppe Orlando (Novembre) and mastered at Principal Studio (Senden, Germany).
"Days of Nothing" was a concept album about an imaginary apocalypse wished by an insane ordinary man. The album features a simple and powerful sound, where strong distortion guitars blend with mellow keyboards pads. After several offers, The Foreshadowing announced in April 2007 their signing with Candlelight Records.
On October 22nd 2007 Days of Nothing was issued worldwide receiving praise from critics and listeners all over the world. The album was released on a deluxe slipcase edition featuring the amazing artwork realized by well-known artist Seth Siro Anton (Paradise Lost, Moonspell, SepticFlesh, Soilwork and many others). After the debut release THE FORESHADOWING announced their official endorsement with Jackson Guitars USA.

The mastering was done in June 2009 at FINNVOX STUDIOS (Helsinki, Finland) by Mika Jussila, meanwhile the band was working artwork-wise again with Seth Siro Anton. The album sound is more gloomy, obsessive and epic than ever and it consists of 10 brand new tracks plus an exclusive funeral cover version of 80's hit "Russians" by Sting.
In December 2009 the band signed a new, long running record deal with Cyclone Empire Records.
"Oionos" has been released on April 2nd 2010 receiving much more bombastic acclaim than its predecessor "Days of Nothing" both by critics (Newcomer of the month on Zillo Magazine, top ten "10x Dynamit" soundcheck pos. 8 On Rock Hard Germany, 9/10 top album on and 8/10 on Metal Hammer Italy) and from audience. In this respect, 'OIONOS' has been voted on pos.2 in the genre "Gothic Metal" , and on pos.3 in the genre "Best Cover Song" by the readers of international leading web magazine METAL STORM.
By august 2010, the role of Davide Pesola has been replaced by the charismatic and talented bass player Francesco Giulianelli.
THE FORESHADOWING have played some gigs all over Italy and Europe to promote the album, taking part in the Summer Breeze open air festival in August 2010, where they have been chosen among the Rookies 2010 of the event. Furthermore the band took part at Master of Doom Festival together with Saturnus, OST Mountain Fest (Romania) and at the famous Wave Gotik Treffen 2011 in Germany alongside big acts of gothic scene, such as Katatonia, October Tide, Fields of the Nephilim, Tiamat and many more.
During may 2011 the band did an European tour as main support for Theatres des Vampires.
From September 2011 to February 2012 THE FORESHADOWING have completed their third act of apocalypse saga "Second World", and it will be released on April 20th 2012 under Cyclone Empire Records once again. "Second World" is a load with visionary and cinematic atmospheres combined with powerful doom metal riffs and promises to be the most ambitious album of the italian band. The album has been mixed and mastered by DAN SWANÖ at UNISOUND STUDIOS (Orebro, Sweden), while well-known artist TRAVIS SMITH has worked on the album illustrations and design.

Sing the sorrow, enjoy the end.
