Kamikaze Palm Tree
Kamikaze Palm Tree screams sonic tremors, the unknown and the welcome. Watching closely, eyes through a glass of orange juice, Kamikaze Palm Tree burns deep. The voice of a saturation rainbow, ripped to pieces and put back together, a jigsaw face. The claw and the hammer, never stammer, never stuck. Kamikaze Palm Tree’s songs pick up their feet, and pummel rolling waves of sound without cease or desist. Songs matched with ambient passages and stark lyrical endeavors, look to the horizon. Kamikaze Palm Tree, an experimental noise pop band venture hailing from San Francisco, CA, they twist the nerves of clowns, globally.
BORN FROM A HEAP OF NOISE AND HEAVINESS AND MELODY FROM BEER SOAKED FLOORS AND BLIND AMBITION AND GENUINELY NOT GIVING A DAMN FROM 5 DUDES IN CALIFORNIA NOT BORN THERE—THE GEORGIA-MAINE-WASHINGTON-CONNECTION—CCR HEADCLEANER IS A ROCK AND ROLL-FIRST BAND FROM THE BAY AREA. OAKLAND AND SAN FRANCISCO. THE CITY AND THE TOWN. THEY WILL PROBABLY ROLL THRU YOUR TOWN OR CITY AND WANT TO PARTY WITH YOU. ESPECIALLY IF U HAVE BEER OR DRUGS. OR BOTH.
Earth Girl Helen Brown
Born a figment of Sonny Smith’s imagination in the storm of invention and tributary appropriation that formed the 100 Records project, Earth Girl Helen Brown reemerged in 2017 response to cosmic cultural forces seeming to demand an engaged response. The Center fir Planetary Intelligence Band has released one cassette EP per season in collaboration with Empty Cellar Records, each confronting a singular solar satellite (MERCURY, MARS, SATURN, and VENUS), topic of planetary importance (fire, war, communication, love), and aspirational genre (country crossover, analog electronic, cumbia, Sade) , with proceeds of each benefiting organizations committed work related to the topic at hand. Forthcoming Vinyl releases form In the Red/Empty Cellar Records continue the project.
This nerdy group of punks has been on the go for the past year as they have released an EP, started a record label and have embarked on a west coast tour all in the name of maximizing revenue and building an empire. Inspired by 70s punk with a contemporary twist of added aggression and technical proficiency, Toyota performs with a captivation that is both curiously engaging and wildly irritating.
At their core, they are a simple squad of entrepreneurs on the prowl for the biggest bang for their buck, unsuspecting business men hiding under the guise of punk “musicians” to sell out fast. Help them out picking up their newest EP, out this week on Discontinuous Innovation Inc.
