Side Saddle is a hook driven, harmony heavy, flower-rock band from New York State led by Singer/Songwriter Ian McGuinness. Back in the spring of 2013, McGuinness and friends began recording Ian's folk songs in a tiny bedroom in Brewster, NY. These recordings would go on to become "The Postcard - EP" , which gained accolades from Baeble, American Songwriter, and The Wild Honey Pie. Later releases would go on to earn McGuinness and Co. the "Best of Bandcamp" title and the Grand Prize at the Silver Sound Showdown at Brooklyn Bowl. The bands current lineup includes Ryan Sniffen (guitar) and Rich Bozek (drums), who both attended High School with McGuinness and Brendan Coughlan (bass) who was a member of the now defunct indie-rock band, This Old Ghost. "Waltermelon - EP" is the 5th and latest release from Side Saddle out on 9/6/19 on Cedar Lodge Records.
Caravela is Frank and Stephen Graniero, a band of brothers from the state of New York. Their latest record “Ski” sits spirited and fervent, entirely itself.
“We’ve always intended to make music that was transportive and transparent. ‘Ski’ is a sound, a sense of movement, and a place to us."
The instrumentation drives forward while remaining palpable, the goal being to capture some of the bands live energy in moments. The genre bends but remains in the realm of hard hitting drums, loud guitars, and impassioned vocals. The songs move through themes of connection, longing, and choice — faced with the whirlwind.
