Afrotaino presents Brasil Summerfest

Tagua Tagua

Tagua Tagua, the music project by Brazilian composer and music producer Felipe Puperi, was born with the release of a debut EP, Tombamento Inevitável (November/2017). A year later, Tagua Tagua put out Pedaço Vivo - a second EP - and since then has been touring all over Brazil. Listening to Pedaço Vivo brings out in us a self reflection about those life moments which are at first painful and distressing, but which also can be beneficial as bridges to a more optimistic phase in life. Even though there is this
dichotomy, the songs do not come across as neither sad nor dark, but on the contrary, there is an irreverence in the aesthetic, which takes the themes closer to a more hopeful and dreamy mood.

From São Paulo, Larissa Baq – known to her growing international fan-base as LaBaq – is one of the leading figures on the Brazilian alternative music scene. Whether solo with just her guitar, or using loops and effects to build spacious reflective structures, or finely honing funky grooves with her bass player and drummer, her soulfully intimate voice relates her tales of life and love with a seductive grace.

With a dedicated following in Brazil and Portugal, she has also performed in Spain, Germany, Russia, Chile, Argentina and Sweden; a modern troubadour playing in venues of all sizes from living rooms to major festival stages. Her 2016 album VOA has so far garnered over a million plays on Spotify and her official video-clips have attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers on YouTube.

Filipe Catto

Filipe Catto is one of the greatest voices coming from Brazil in the recent years. Catto is a diva, a stage artist. Something between Freddie Mercury and Maria Bethânia, Bolero and High Fashion Glam Rock. With 4 LPs under his belt, he's shared the stage over his career with Chico Buarque, Ney Matogrosso, Gilberto Gil, Vanessa da Matta, and Maria Gadú. Besides performing all over Brazil, he’s toured over the United States, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Based on his new record, CATTO, the new tour is called “The Birth of Venus.” The title was inspired by the song “Lua Deserta" (Desert Moon) and captures the feeling of beauty and rebirth of the new work. To Filipe, “This concert is a celebration, a sensorial experience of light, sound and texture. I think of this spectacle as a shamanic ritual using pop music as a vehicle to promote a sense of overflowing, connection and freedom.”
