A rock band with punk energy and pop reggae grooves, Baltimore's BALLYHOO! are a fun, fan-loving powerhouse. These road dogs have tirelessly toured coast-to-coast taking their music to the people. Between the road and the studio, BALLYHOO! have crafted a sound distinctly their own; fresh, fun, and embodied by the soul of the party lifestyle. Lead singer and guitarist, Howi Spangler, has a reputation for mixing slick lyrics with his smooth but powerful voice. Drummer Donald Spangler lays out the hard-hitting beats. Scott Vandrey layers in the finishing touches to the band's signature sound on keys. The guys recently welcomed Nick Lucera as their new bass player.
BALLYHOO! released their 5th studio album Pineapple Grenade on June 25th 2013. It broke through the Billboard Top 200 at #189 as well as reaching #4 Billboard Heatseekers and #5 at iTunes Alternative charts.
The album features "No Good," produced by Rome Ramirez (Sublime with Rome) and mixed by Paul Leary (U2, Sublime); while the first single "Run" saw an early radio add from KRAB Bakersfield and early radio spins by KROQ Los Angeles, WHFS Baltimore, KTCL Denver, and KCXX Riverside among others. Alongside the album release, BALLYHOO! co-headlined the 2013 Summer Sickness Tour with Authority Zero and special guests Versus The World. Pineapple Grenade is the band's follow-up to the 2011 LAW Records release of "Daydreams," which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and #4 on Amazon.
BALLYHOO!'s unique yet melodic blend of genres, along with their hardcore devotion to the road and their fans have pitched them into snowballing success. The band has performed with a myriad of national touring acts; 311, Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, The Dirty Heads, Matisyahu, and more. Tour highlights include the 2011 311 Pow Wow Festival, the 2012 and 2013 311 Caribbean Cruise, Bamboozle 2012, 2012 Charm City Music Festival, 2013 Cali Roots Festival & the entire 2012 Vans Warped Tour. In 2011, after concluding the Last Calls and Liabilities tour with respected contemporaries, Pepper, they were honored with being included on the ever-popular Hollister Holiday Playlist. They were listed on MTV's Top 100 Bands to Watch and even featured 2 downloadable songs on the popular video game ROCK BAND.
On Passafire’s sixth studio release, Longshot, the Savannah, GA based rock outfit gives a testimony to following dreams, inspired by people, places, and experiences Passafire has shared since forming as a band. The group’s four members continue chasing their passion despite being told many times that “Making it as a musician is a long-shot,” a piece of advice that inspired this album and its title. Longshot takes its listeners through a full spectrum of emotions, telling stories of heartbreak, new beginnings, overcoming personal struggles, finding truths, discovering new places, and getting older, all weaved into Passafire’s genre-defying mix of reggae, hard rock, hip hop, and anything else that turns the group on musically.
Passafire was formed in Savannah, GA, in 2003 by Ted Bowne and Nick Kubley, and have built a strong reputation within the U.S. reggae scene through relentless touring with fellow band members Mike DeGuzman and Will Kubley. Bowne doesn’t mind the grueling schedule and adds, “Touring is the best way to keep the buzz about the band going. What keeps it fun and exciting is the people we meet and places we get to see. We are in a new city every day so there’s always something to go see or do.” They continue to be a larger part of the U.S. reggae scene, even though musically they are often far apart from many of their peers in the genre, with a growing emphasis on alternative and progressive rock elements within their songs.
Straight out of the Sunshine State, Kash'd Out hits the reggae/rock scene with style and ease.
Since 2014, guitarist Jackson Hauserman and Sound Lounge Studios producers Greg Shields and Josh Saldate have been sending out positive energy through catchy, feel-good tunes indicative of their Orlando, Florida roots. Their laid-back coastal sound, fun choruses and pop melodies promote their message of having fun and being good people.
Inspired by music from Slightly Stoopid, New Found Glory and 90's R&B, and experience working with Ballyhoo! and Tribal Seeds at Sound Lounge Studios, Kash’d Out entered the flourishing reggae/rock scene with energy and drive.
Upon completing their self-titled debut EP, the band recruited Joey Brohawn on bass, Marshall Hearne on drums and Nick Gudzan on keys. With the lineup intact, they hit the studio to begin work on their second album.
During that time, front man Greg Shields co-wrote Ballyhoo!'s latest record, “Girls,” and joined them on the Vans Warped Tour 2016. There, he was introduced to Hawaiian reggae/rock legends, Pepper. He waited patiently for the right moment to show the band Kash'd Out's new material in hopes of locking in an offer to sign with their label, LAW Records.
Greg’s efforts paid off. Kash'd Out released their new full-length album, aptly named "The Hookup," on Pepper’s LAW Records on May 26th, 2017 and it debuted at number 2 on Billboard’s Top Reggae Albums.
In a review of the album in The Pier, Mike Patti notes, “What struck me the most about The Hookup were the unique, catchy melodies and vocal deliveries found on each song.”
Fresh off of a nationwide tour with Pepper and Less Than Jake, followed by another with Pacific Dub, Kash'd Out doesn’t plan to stop touring anytime soon, making them easy to find on a stage near you this summer!
