The Gettin' Higher Choir
The Gettin’ Higher Choir is an enthusiastic and exuberant 150+ member community choir that embodies the idea that singing is our birthright and that all voices can sing beautifully in harmony.
Founded in 1996 by Siobhan Robinsong, the choir is now led by Cathy Baker and Dick Jackson and continues to build community in song.
Described as an “energetic phenomenon”, the Choir aims to uplift and inspire! The GHC spring concert is sure to fill your hearts with songs of home.
Proceeds from the winter concert will again this year support The Caia Connection.
Samara Jade, is known for weaving a unique tapestry of folk, jazz, blues, and world-fusion. Inspired by the wonders of the natural world, Samara’s music is grounded in the human longing for belonging; finding hope and healing in a sense of coming home. Samara is now based in Port Townsend, Washington.
$15.00 - $25.00
The theme of this spring concert, “Songs of Hope; Songs of Home”, features an upbeat repertoire, from African folksongs to Leonard Cohen; from contemporary folk to an opera chorus by Verdi and a number from the musical "Rent".Our guest artist this season is Samara Jade, who is known for weaving a unique tapestry of folk, jazz, blues, and world-fusion.
The Gettin’ Higher Choir is proud to support for the 21st year The Caia Connection, a grassroots charity based in Victoria, that raises funds and supports education, food, and health programs in Mozambique. This concert is especially important since Cyclone Idai devastated communities supported for years by Victorians through The Caia Connection. All proceeds from the concert and donations will help our friends rebuild their lives.
