The Avengers

“One of the first and finest bands to emerge from San Francisco's punk scene & major inspiration in a scene that flourished long after they broke up. Singer Penelope Houston was one of the pioneering women of American punk.” Mark Deming Allmusic

Formed in San Francisco in 1977 by Penelope Houston (vocals), Greg Ingraham (guitar), and Danny Furious (drums). Jimmy Wilsey took over bass duties early on. They quickly became favorites on the West Coast punk scene at clubs like Mabuhay Gardens and Whiskey a Go-Go. The classic Dangerhouse single, "We Are the One," was released later that year. Supporting act for what turned out to be Sex Pistols' last show, they recorded another anthem, "The American in Me," with Steve Jones. After Greg left in late '78, Brad Kent (ex- DOA) joined and the band recorded the Nietzschean power ballad, "Corpus Christi." Known around the punk world and without ever having played outside the West Coast, the group disbanded in 1979.

In support of "Died For Your Sins," Penelope and Greg played a few shows as the scAvengers in 1999 with Joel Reader (ex- Mr. T Experience) on bass and Danny Panic (ex- Screeching Weasel) on drums. In 2004, they started to play select shows in Europe and US.

Lushlife is a New Haven, Ct. based punk rock n’ roll band. Their simmering brand of music presents a new Americana which calls to mind the sounds of punk rock, pub rock, and down and dirty garage rock n' roll. The bulk of the Lushlife sound is derived from the varied musical backgrounds of members John Pugs Licitra and Erik Barrett (guitar and electric bass, respectively), who have each done time in a wide variety of punk outfits (The Suspects, Forced Reality, 100 Demons), touring relentlessly across the U.S. and Europe. Drummer Anthony Fros adds dimension and depth of sound through a raucous drumming style that incorporates traditional rhythm and blues chops and straight ahead rock n’ roll beats. As vocalist, Toby Hampp (The Long Goodbyes) uses the stage like a bully pulpit, delivering inebriated tales of savage nights, lost love, the holy ghost, and suicide. The members of Lushlife have been gigging up and down the East Coast for many years, and formed on the basis of stripping rock n' roll back to its very roots. As such, they have been compared to Nashville Pussy, The Hellacopters, and The Stooges, and have established themselves as a direct challenge to conventional understandings of rock n' roll. Testify!
