Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band

Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band

A guileless, boy-next-door voice belies the depth and ambition of Josh Ritter’s songs, whether he is confessing a simple crush or following his thoughts on a long, Whitmanesque incantation.
-Ben Sisario, The New York Times

Battle Scenes (2016) is the long-awaited second full-length album from native Nebraskan, Kait Berreckman. Songs about internal struggle masked by external poise sung with unapologetic authenticity, backed by crisp and honest rock ‘n’ roll fill the nine-track album to the brim with guts and imagination. Berreckman’s signature pop-coated folk-rock from her 2011 release, Conservation, remains intact, but with a rockier edge. Now based out of Denver, Colorado, she continues to craft vulnerable songs and hone her heavy-hearted tone despite the relentless sunshine of the mile-high city.
