Six-piece band Delta Rae hails from Durham, NC with Liz Hopkins and Brittany Holljes fronting the robust group with sultry harmonies rounded out by Holljes’ brothers Eric (vocals, piano) and Ian (vocals, guitar) as well as Mike McKee (drums) and Grant Emerson (bass). The band chose their moniker from a mythical story the Holljes siblings’ mother wrote about a Southern girl of the same name who summons the Greek gods to earth.
Headlining over 100 shows each year and a regular on the festival circuit since forming in 2009, Delta Rae’s larger-than-life performances have earned coveted spots at Bonnaroo, Tortuga Music Festival, Austin City Limits, Firefly, Bumbershoot, Summerfest, Hangout Fest, Kaaboo, Basilica, VOODOO, and Lollapalooza. They have received national attention with features in NPR, Washington Post, and New York Times, in addition to late night television performances and inclusion in Forbes' 30 Under 30 list. Delta Rae were recently named One to Watch in 2018 by Billboard, CMT & Rolling Stone.
Now signed to Big Machine Label Group’s imprint The Valory Music Co., Delta Rae are on tour in support of their latest release, A Long And Happy Life, and their latest radio single “No Peace in Quiet.”
As a teenager growing up near Houston, Texas, Scott picked up the bass guitar on a whim. Natural talent and the lure of a challenge drove him to be the best musician he could and discover his love for singing, songwriting and the upright bass. After attending college, Scott moved to Nashville, where his life changed after meeting American music icon Ricky Skaggs and joining his Grammy winning band, Kentucky Thunder. He toured with Ricky for over five years, and in that time, first started writing songs on his upright bass. After singing and performing on the bass each night, Scott had a revelation–why had he not had the courage to do this before? Thus began his journey as a solo artist. His 2018 album, Himalayas, is the culmination of that combination of musicality. Scott’s songs have received honors and have been featured in NPR’S Tiny Desk Contest, the International Songwriting Competition, John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and American Songwriter Magazine’s 30th Anniversary Contest, and he has had numerous cuts on other artists’ albums. Scott is a showcase performer at 2018 Americana Music Festival, and has been featured on Lightning 100 radio’s Nashville Sunday Night series. He has shared the stage with some of the greatest artists of modern music such as: Alison Krauss, Barry Gibb of the BeeGees, Bruce Hornsby, Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton, Steven Curtis Chapman, Emmylou Harris, Dave Barnes, Ben Rector, and many more.
