INSANE CLOWN POSSE: A LOOK INSIDE THE TENT OF THE DARK CARNIVAL
When Insane Clown Posse emerged from the darkness surrounding Detroit's underground music scene in the early '90s, the world had yet to imagine the impact that the face painted duo's hardcore, hip-hop style would bear on mainstream music. Over the course of several Gold and Platinum albums, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope have shared their Dark Carnival mythology with the world, through their lyrics which range from the philosophic to the humorous and through their over-the-top live performances (the Clowns' most infamous concert tradition: Dousing the crowd with hundreds of gallons of Faygo soda). The duo's millions of fans -- known as 'Juggalos' -- have become one of the most studied and talked-about musical subcultures of all time. Many of their albums, including the Platinum-selling "The Great Milenko" and "The Amazing Jeckel Brothers" have become true classics of the horrorcore rap genre. Additionally, Insane Clown Posse's annual Gathering of the Juggalos has grown to become one of America's most eclectic and celebrated summer music festivals. The first entry in their new two-part album "The Marvelous Missing Link" was released on Tuesday, April 28 and opened at #2 on the Billboard Top 10 Rap Chart. The concluding chapter, "The Marvelous Missing Link (FOUND)" was released on Friday, July 31 to great critical acclaim. Thanks to their bestselling albums, compilations, music videos, professional wrestling promotion (Juggalo Championship Wrestling), films, outrageous events, television shows ("Insane Clown Posse Theater") and unprecedented merchandise success, Insane Clown Posse has smashed through the ceiling of the music industry's expectations to create a bona fide entertainment empire that shows no signs of stopping.
Born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, Rittz was raised in a suburban household in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Rittz stated in a 2013 interview with HiphopDX that he came up working various "nine to five" jobs including restaurants during his life. Rittz also went on to say that he commonly told people he was a rapper, even when he was not active. Rittz's big breakthrough was on Yelawolf's 2010 album track "Box Chevy". Rittz has gone on to do many collaborations with Yelawolf since, and also toured in 2012 together on the Slumerican Tour. Rittz is also widely known for his 2011 mixtape "White Jesus". In 2012 he took his favorite songs from White Jesus and added a few new songs and re-released it as White Jesus: Revival. Rittz signed with Strange Music in 2012. Rittz and Tech N9ne immediately started working together and released the popular collaboration "Bloody Murda" shortly after Rittz joined Strange Music. He released his solo debut, 'The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant' on April 30, 2013.
Mushroomhead is an American metal rock band from Cleveland, Ohio. Formed in 1993, the band's music can be described as a synthesis of alternative music, experimental music, and heavy metal. Known for its theatrical live show and the black masks that most of its member wear on-stage, Mushroomhead is one of the more unique and adventurous alternative metal outfits that emerged in the 1990s. The Cleveland band's music is as interesting as its image; Mushroomheads forceful yet melodic alterna-metal incorporates elements of hip-hop, punk, and goth rock as well as industrial and techno. The bands last album sold over 200,000 units in the USA alone. Mushroomhead released Savior Sorrow for the pioneering rock label Megaforce Records in 2006. A few years later in the fall of 2010, they released "Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children" and it debuted as #44 on Billboard charts.
