NIGHT OF SELF(LESS) CARE
While everyone understands the benefits of snail serums and a night spent at home with a bevy of CBD beverages, why not make your night of self care a bit more...selfless? Feminine hygiene products are a financial burden on all women, but it’s even worse for women in need. Their access to tampons and pads is non-existent and often overlooked. But we can help!
Night of Self(less) Care is a benefit comedy show raising money for Distributing Dignity, an organization that provides feminine hygiene products to women in shelters.
Hosted by Alison Leiby and featuring stand up from:
Joyelle Nicole Johnson
In addition to the show, there is an exciting raffle with some of the dopest prizes imaginable (last year had everything from fancy manicures to restaurant gift cards). And load up on feminine hygiene products, because every box tampons or pads you bring you get FREE RAFFLE TICKETS.

Joyelle Nicole Johnson
We can all use an overabundance of Joy in our lives, which is exactly what this lovely lady brings to the stage. As an adult, Joyelle Nicole prides herself on being the nerd she was ashamed of growing up. Subsequently, Her comedy writing includes an extensive vocabulary (that had her pummeled by lesser minded mortals as a child) combined with a worldly perspective (due to her inability to sit still).
Onstage, Joyelle talks about her life. After growing up in the suburbs of NJ and being ridiculed for enrollment in both Band and Asthma Camp, she attended Boston College. Upon graduation she moved to LA and began a comedy pursuit which has taken her around the world.
Presently residing in queens, Joyelle is proud to have safely relocated from the housing projects of Brooklyn where she heard gunshots all times of day (you would too for free rent in NY). Thusly, she has performed all over NY and the surrounding areas.
October of 2012 Joyelle finished 3rd out of 250 females for the She-Devil Festival at the Laughing Devil comedy club. In July she was chosen as a semi finalist in Vancouver, BC for NBC's Stand Up for Diversity showcase. And In June her comedic dream came true when she was requested by her idol, Dave Chappelle, to open his show at the Robinson Center in Little Rock, AR in front of 2,600 people.
Honored to be a reliable opener, 2013 boasted opening again for Chappelle in Atlanta at the Tabernacle Theater. Consistently opening for hannibal buress across the country. and her largest audience to date opening for Russell Peters at the Borgata Casino in front of 3,700. The close of the year also gleaned the progress of being flown to Los Angeles by NBC as one of ten finalists for the Stand up For Diversity Competition.
onward 2014 has begun with Opening for Maria Bamford in Albany, NY at the egg shaped Swyer Theater for which she was mentioned in The New York Times. Furthermore, this past November saw her doing the same at Town Hall for the NY Comedy Festival. The performance was reviewed by the laugh button.
Joyelle has a lot to look forward to With this track record, booked road gigs, and showcases on the horizon.
Lastly, her comedic trinity considers George Carlin the father, Dave Chappelle the son, and Chris Rock the Holy Ghost. Comedy is her religion, and healing people through laughter renews her faith every time she hits a stage both urban and mainstream alike.
