Dazz Band

The Dazz Band was the first R & B Group to win a Grammy out of Cleveland, Ohio for Best Performance by a Group or Duo with their smash hit “Let It Whip” during their 5 years with Motown. In 1982, Cleveland’s Mayor George Voinovich honored the group by designating December 31st as “Bobby Harris and The Dazz Band Day”. While most known for “Let it Whip”, the Dazz Band also scored 20 Hits on the Top 100 R & B and Pop Charts from 1980-1998 produced by both Bobby Harris and Reggie Andrews. The Dazz Band performed on popular television shows of the 80’s and 90’s including Soul Train, Solid Gold & American Bandstand. In addition to “Let it Whip”, hits like “Swoop”, “Joystick”, “Party Right Here”, “Let At All Blow”, “Heartbeat” and others have sustained the test of time and remain in recurring rotation on satellite and internet radio.

Following the infusion of rap into the American music market, many US classic funk/ R&B/soul acts began performing abroad. In the late 1990’s Leader of The Dazz Band Bobby Harris called upon members of the Bar Kays, Confunkshun, Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band, and The SOS Band for a project entitled“UnitedWeFunkAll-Stars”.
