There's a little bit of magic and a whole lot of love in the rock 'n soul band Oh He Dead. Founded in 2014 by Andy Valenti and C.J. Johnson, the now five-piece group creates an "infectious and soulful sound" (The Washington Post) that leaves audience members wanting more of their "deliciously honest, raw, and sexy" music (The Dutch Guy, 2018). The D.C.-based band has captured the hearts of D.C. residents, and the feeling is mutual.

The way in which C.J. "...maneuvers her powerful voice — a combination of Stevie Nicks and Tracy Chapman" (NPR), in conjunction with the deft guitaring of Alex Salser, the arresting harmonies of Andy Valenti, and the soulful rhythm of John Daise (bass) and Adam Ashforth (drums), is quickly garnering national attention. Mixing in healthy doses of classic R&B vibes, funk, and folk, it is no wonder that when attending a show, one can't help but "... bop and sing along with band members to this infectiously groovy tunes." (All Songs Considered.)

FootsXColes is a versatile production duo hailing from the Washington D.C., metropolitan area. The group is made up of Foots (drummer, songwriter, singer) and Coles (producer, singer, pianist). Their music is a refreshing take on alternative R&B – spacey soul music with futuristic sounds and vivid lyrics.

Not only has FootsXColes wowed audiences with their electrifying arrangements, but they have also lent their talents to other acts. They have played at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts alongside Alex Vaughn as a part of the “Celebrating Women in Jazz” series. Additionally, FootsXColes has opened for other artists including Toro Y Moi, HOMESHAKE, and Little Simz.

The duo’s latest album, A Happy Home, is a collection of jazzy tracks that leaves listeners feeling relaxed. The lead single from the album, entitled “Creep”, has quickly become a fan-favorite.

novo is an electro soul quintet from Washington, D.C. Melding elements of jazz, R&B, electronica, and psychedelic rock, the group formed in early 2018 out of an impromptu jam session, during which the members quickly noticed that a fire had been lit. That initial session blossomed into a fully-realized sound, spearheaded by husband-and-wife songwriting duo Gena Photiadis (keys/vocals) and TJ Turqman (bass). Lead vocalist Tula Pisano weaves intricate melodies that are equal parts evocative and beautiful, complemented by guitarist/vocalist Nikhel Sus and drummer Matt Tredwell. The end result is a sound that is melodic, yet distressed. Retro, yet new. And, above all, full of light and energy.

novo's members include some of the most in-demand live and session musicians in DC, who have played with a range of artists locally, nationally, and internationally, including the Funk Ark, Staycation, Gordon Sterling & the People, and more.

In mid-2018, novo will release a series of live session performances, “the basement sessions," featuring several of the group's formative tracks.
