Boogieman Dela

"Kufie" has been making a name for himself as a member of some of Philly's most cutting-edge alternative rap crews; first as a founding member of the BurnDown All-Stars, and more recently, his own group, hip-hop/soul collective The Hustle. Knotz, a.k.a. Ty Green, is now making his solo career top priority, and with Boombox Logic, he's created a diverse, far-reaching collection that underscores the rapper's eclectic tastes.

Death By Bong

Death by Bong is a live hip-hop band formed in 2015 based in Norristown, Pennsylvania. From the mind of ROKBOTTOM comes a team formed with two other founding members of the Burn Down All Stars, Carlito Attack and Lord Bizerk along with the captain of the team, Marshall Baker on drums from ROKBOTTOM’s first group, Untamed Soul (circa 1999-2002).

Since then their sound is still carrying the torch from classic hip hop, “original boom-bap” vibe to what is now known as “doom rap.”

The heartbeat of the band is carried by the rhythm section. Marshal builds the pocket on the ones and twos along with Thaddaeus Peay (a.k.a. Thaddaeus Prime) on percussion, which is punctuated by the bass player, Jayar Bass who reigns from a mixed history of reggae, rock and funk ensambles.

On top of the beat flows a range of melodic ambiance and pocket grooves cultivated by guitar guru, Sean “Falcor” Devlin which vibrates harmonically along side the fingers of Keezus on the ivory’s.

Within them, they carry the spirit of Stoney Mahoney, which is described as a villain releasing intoxicating therapy through music and perpetuates the full legalization of cannabis, portrayed as a nightmare, characterized as some sort of post-apocalyptic freedom fighter. The band pokes fun and walks a fine line standing up for their beliefs through their music, while living in the new world and fighting their way through this modern-day prohibition era. Death by Bong means “long life” (as described from frontman, Carlito Attack) because there has never been one case of anyone dying from cannabis use. They explain that the only way it could be fatal is if Stoney Mahoney was bashing you over the head with a bong. Depending on who you talk to, Stoney Mahoney is either a hero or a villain.
