Survivor

Legendary rock band Survivor is embarking on their next chapter with a new member who has seemingly given new life to one of rock ‘n’ roll’s preeminent bands. With 22-year-old Nashville resident Cameron Barton assuming lead vocalist duties, the group will take their trademark arena rock sound to their loyal and devoted fan base.

Survivor released their first album in 1980 on Scotti Brothers. Their first Top-40 on the Hot 100 came the next year with “Poor Man’s Son.” Their big break would come in 1982 when the band was asked by Sylvester Stallone to provide the theme song for Rocky III. That single, “Eye Of The Tiger,” hit # 1 – staying there for seven weeks, winning a Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, a People’s Choice Award, Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination. The song came in at #18 on the “Top 100 Singles” chart in Billboard‘s 100th Anniversary issue and it’s well over the 7 million mark worldwide on iTunes, where it’s currently holding strong at #9 on their “Top Soundtrack” chart. The band also struck paydirt as a result of a Stallone movie when “Burning Heart” appeared on the soundtrack of Rocky IV in 1985, hitting #2 on the singles chart.

The band’s Vital Signs record was another huge success, peaking at #16 on Billboard‘s “Top 200 Albums” chart thanks to the Billboard Top-20 hits “I Can’t Hold Back” (#13), “High On You” (#8) and “The Search Is Over” (#4). With a new team on board and new energy in the air, the future couldn’t be brighter for Survivor!

The A List

The A-List Band was formed by Tom Gariano a Niagara Falls Music Hall of Fame inductee 2017. A veteran singer from Niagara Falls in June 2006. Tom had sang for numerous local bands for over 30 years including Tunnel, Myopic Void, and Night Shift. While a member of the Buffalo based band Flipside for 3 years Tom decided he was ready to form his own band and start playing more local shows. In doing so he had a formula that he thought would make a successful band over time. And that was the bands material. So going with the idea of a band that could play a rock club on Friday and a wedding on Saturday seemed the way to go. So while on vacation he enlisted Seven Day Faith drummer Rob Ferenc who played with his son Rob’s band for 10 years and a call out to Buffalo native Craig McDonnell who had previously auditioned for Flipside on guitar local bass player Mark Hyzy. The A-List began playing small local clubs and resturants trying to gain somewhat of a following. As the band started to get more shows every month a big break came in 2008 when they were asked to play the Party in the Plaza for a Buffalo Sabres playoff game for more then 10,000 people. From that day on the band has never been out of work, In 2010 Peter Zito was brought in on keyboards along with Sax player Tony Nastasi. By 2013 the band was playing 100 shows a year have opened for Eddie Money, Lovin Spoonful, Little River Band. Burning out with the same material for several years Tom and Craig decided to make some changes. In doing so the band brought in Buffalo Music Hall of Famer Tom Ryan best known from the recording group Weekend on drums and Chris Marziale from Universal Grill on Keyboards and the rest is as they say is history.
