Over the past decade, M3 has become more than a festival – it’s an ‘80s arena rock experience. Drawing diehard fans from six continents, 20 countries, and every state, M3 has evolved into an annual pilgrimage for those who grew up with ‘80s rock (a genre of music now referred to as the “new classic rock”) as well as for younger fans who embrace the fun and excitement of the glam metal era.

"After recording two solo albums, former Deep Purple vocalist David Coverdale formed Whitesnake around 1977. In the glut of hard rock and heavy metal bands of the late '70s, their first albums got somewhat lost in the shuffle, although they were fairly popular in Europe and Japan. During 1982, Coverdale took some time off, so he could take care of his sick daughter. When he re-emerged with a new version of Whitesnake in 1984, the band sounded revitalized and energetic. Slide It In may have relied on Led Zeppelin's and Deep Purple's old tricks, but the band had a knack for writing hooks; the record became their first platinum album. Three years later, Whitesnake released an eponymous album (titled 1987 in Europe) that was even better. Portions of the album were blatantly derivative -- "Still of the Night" was a dead ringer for early Zeppelin -- but the group could write powerful, heavy rockers like "Here I Go Again" that were driven as much by melody as riffs, as well as hit power ballads like "Is This Love." Whitesnake was an enormous international success, selling over six million copies in the U.S. alone.
Before they recorded their follow-up, 1989's Slip of the Tongue, Coverdale again assembled a completely new version of the band, featuring guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. Although the record went platinum, it was a considerable disappointment after the across-the-board success of Whitesnake. Coverdale put Whitesnake on hiatus after that album. In 1993, he released a collaboration with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page that was surprisingly lackluster. The following year, Whitesnake issued a greatest-hits album in the U.S. and Canada -- focusing solely on material from their final three albums (as well as containing a few unreleased tracks).
In 1997, Coverdale resurrected Whitesnake (guitarist Adrian Vandenberg was the only remaining member of the group's latter-day lineup), issuing Restless Heart the same year. Surprisingly, the album wasn't even issued in the United States. On the ensuing tour, Coverdale and Vandenberg performed an "unplugged" show in Japan that was recorded and issued the following year under the title Starkers in Tokyo. By the late '90s, however, Coverdale once again put Whitesnake on hold, as he concentrated on recording his first solo album in nearly 22 years. Coverdale's Into the Light was issued in September 2000, featuring journeyman guitarist Earl Slick. Extreme's first album in thirteen years doesn't just mark the band's hotly anticipated return to the studio and stage. Saudades de Rock (pronounced "sow-dodge") is a groundbreaking record that reaffirms the beloved, Boston-bred foursome's stature as innovators in the world of rock & roll.
Warrant got its fill of cherry pie in the 80s and 90s, but apparently that was not enough to squelch the band's hunger. Warrant will storm back to the stage in 2008, with plans for a tour and new music well into 2009 and beyond. The band, formed in 1984 by LA guitarist Erik Turner and bassist Jerry Dixon, hit the rock scene in February 1989 with the release of its debut album, "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" (Columbia Records). A blistering world tour of 262 shows helped push the 10-track record to double platinum status. The CD spawned three singles -- Down Boys (27 on the Billboard Top 100), Sometimes She Cries (20), and Heaven (2) – Heaven also sold over 750,000 singles. DRFSR live home video certified Platinum.
Topping their freshman success may have seemed like a daunting task, but the band members proved they were up to the challenge. Just 19 months after D.R.F.S.R. introduced the American rock fan to Warrant, "Cherry Pie" -- the band's second album (Columbia Records) – solidified Warrant's standing in rock history. The band toured again at home and abroad with 200+ shows pushing USA sales of Cherry Pie well into the 2 million mark. The record's title track became perhaps the band's most recognizable hit, and the album peaked at 7 on the charts.
Nearly 20 years and eight albums the later, the buzz surrounding Warrant remains. Since the success in the late 80s and early 90s, the band has seen many changes but has remained a key cog in the ever-changing rock landscape. Warrant has endured death, changes in record label and loss of band members, it appears these hardships have only fueled Warrant's drive.
"Skid Row were one of the very last hair metal bands to hit the mainstream before grunge took over in the early '90s. While the band's self-titled debut employed standard pop-metal riffs and generic lyrics (albeit to great commercial success), 1991's Slave to the Grind and 1995's Subhuman Race broke away from the pop-metal mold with uncharacteristically hard, thrashy guitars and unique songwriting techniques. Though personal differences and changing trends would eventually tear the core lineup apart by 1996, Skid Row showed tremendous promise during their short time in the spotlight.
Based in New Jersey, Skid Row were formed in 1986 by bassist Rachel Bolan and former Bon Jovi guitarist Dave "The Snake" Sabo. The pair added guitarist Scott Hill, drummer Rob Affuso, and a larger than life vocalist named Sebastian Bach to the lineup by early 1987, and the band spent the next year and a half playing a series of local clubs in the eastern U.S. Having remained in contact with Jon Bon Jovi, Sabo convinced the established rock star to land Skid Row a record deal with Atlantic Records. In 1989, the band released its first album, Skid Row, which went multi-platinum on the strength of the Top 40 singles "18 and Life" and "I Remember You." Success came with a backlash, however -- the bandmembers had naïvely signed away much of their royalties, and Sebastian Bach's wild, often childlike behavior landed the group in additional trouble. During the subsequent tour, Bach garnered harsh criticism for a T-shirt he publicly sported displaying the message "AIDS KILLS FAGS DEAD." Suits were also filed against Bach after a concert during the supporting tour, where the singer allegedly threw a glass bottle into the crowd and injured a young female fan.
Nonetheless, Skid Row's muscular songcraft retained a devoted audience. Released in 1991, Slave to the Grind debuted at number one on the Billboard chart, an unprecedented accomplishment for a metal band. While the album did not chart any real radio hits, Grind received stronger critical praise and eventually reached platinum status. However, like so many of their peers, Skid Row lost much of their fan base during the grunge invasion of the '90s. As Nirvana stormed the scene in 1992, Skid Row took a hiatus, waiting out the grunge period and pondering breakups (ironically, Nirvana had once gone under the name Skid Row in the '80s). Skid Row returned in 1995 with Subhuman Race, which surprisingly charted in the Top 40 but otherwise did not attract any real attention.
During the supporting tour, tensions between the group members ran high and Skid Row disbanded shortly afterward. Bach went on to form the Last Hard Men with Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, but the group broke up after recording a cover of Alice Cooper's "School's Out" for the Scream soundtrack in 1996. Plans to record new songs for the Skid Row greatest-hits album, 1998's Forty Seasons, fell through, and Bach went on to form a solo project and portray the title role in the Broadway musical Jeckyll and Hyde. In mid-2000, Skid Row re-formed with new singer Johnny Solinger and toured as the opening band for Kiss' farewell tour. They released Thickskin with Solinger in 2003, followed by Revolutions Per Minute in 2006. Meanwhile, Sebastian Bach enjoyed a surge in popularity when he appeared in a VH1 reality show opposite Ted Nugent and Scott Ian." - Barry Weber, AllMusicGuide
"I told them about you bro. They saw you and they're stoked," admitted Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee to future lead vocalist Vince Neil the night the band came out to see the bleached blonde singer perform with his band Rock Candy at the famed Hollywood nightclub, Starwood. Neil, however, was apprehensive at first as he was very happy with his current band but agreed to an audition the next weekend as to not hurt Lee's feelings. The singer was quickly ushered into the band, and for the next decade they embarked on a heavy metal odyssey full of music, mayhem, and four consecutive multi-platinum albums.
Born Vince Neil Wharton on February 8, 1961, in Hollywood, CA, Neil was the focal point of the band with his long blonde hair and screeching vocal style. While not a schooled vocalist, Neil definitely looked the part. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, he epitomized the carefree California "surfer dude" image, which was, at the time, the ideal persona for a heavy metal front man (à la David Lee Roth). After Neil joined Mötley Crüe in 1981, the band recorded the self-produced album Too Fast for Love, which attracted the attention of Elektra Records' Tom Zutaut. They were subsequently signed and in 1983 released their major-label debut, Shout at the Devil, that went on to become a multi-platinum smash and launched the band into superstardom. Mötley Crüe pressed on and released 1985's Theatre Of Pain which quickly went multi-platinum as did 1987's Girls, Girls, Girls and 1989's Dr. Feelgood, an album that became the band's biggest success. Following the massive tour to support Dr. Feelgood, Neil was fired from the band. As a result, the singer embarked on a semi-successful solo career, teaming up with former Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens on 1993's Exposed, which sold respectably. In 1995, Neil released the Dust Brothers' produced Carved in Stone which failed to live up to expectations. Mötley Crüe also failed to recapture their '80s success with their 1994 self-titled album and asked Neil to rejoin the band in 1997. 1997's Generation Swine saw the band reunited with their original lead singer, Neil, and the original lineup of guitarist Mick Mars, bassist Nikki Sixx, and drummer Tommy Lee. This lineup would not last long, however, as Tommy Lee would leave the band in 1999. Following yet another departure, the band released New Tattoo in 2000. - Eric Linden, All Music Guide
KIX was founded in 1978 in Hagerstown, Maryland as The Shooze, then changed its name to The Generators before eventually settling on KIX. They were considered one of Maryland's top cover bands prior to their signing with Atlantic Records in 1981. Though considered by many glam metal, the band's pop-metal stylings drew inspiration from bubblegum pop and new wave as well as hard rock.
In 1981, they debuted with a self-titled album “KIX,” featuring "Atomic Bombs," "Heartache," "Contrary Mary", "The Itch," and "The Kid." "Love at First Sight" instantly became a concert favorite. "KIX Are for Kids" creatively merged the name of the band with two popular cereals of the 1960s and 1970s, KIX (that featured an atomic bomb commercial) and the Trix Rabbit (i.e., "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!").
"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" became the band’s most popular concert song, always with a unique ad-lib performance by Whiteman. With this album, the tongue-in-cheek rock & roll style of KIX was established. Their 1983 follow-up, “Cool Kids,” showcased a slightly more commercial side of the band featuring the title song and the single "Body Talk.” Somewhat overlooked but a favorite with female fans was the ballad "For Shame."
KIX then partnered up with Ratt and future Warrant producer Beau Hill and, in 1985, released the album “Midnite Dynamite,” featuring a hard rock single by the same name and funk rock songs “Cold Shower" and "Sex." The band headed west to begin to make a name for themselves in such places as the Sunset Strip, where Mötley Crüe and other glam metal bands rose to stardom.
KIX went back to the studio to write more songs. In 1988, they released “Blow My Fuse,” and finally achieved fame as it went platinum. The slow ballad "Don't Close Your Eyes" -- containing anti-suicidelyrics -- led the way and other popular cuts followed. The album featured popular singles "Cold Blood" and "Blow My Fuse" with popular videos showing the band in concert at Hammerjacks. In 1989, the band released “KIX, Blow My Fuse, the Videos” with their now popular videos and behind-the-scenes footage. As KIX finally graduated to arenas, they opened for such popular artists as Aerosmith.
The album “Hot Wire” finally arrived in 1991 with the single, “Girl Money". While on tour in 1992, they made a live album, titled “KIX Live” at the University of Maryland, College Park. This album was released in 1993. In 1995, the band released their final album “Show Business,” on CMC records. KIX broke up in 1995, and Hammerjack’s Concert Hall was torn down in June 1996 to make way for a parking lot for the Baltimore Ravens' stadium. Steve Whiteman would re-emerge as the singer for local Baltimore band Funny Money, with whom he continues to work. Jimmy Chalfant has also joined Funny Money as the full time drummer. Steve also teaches voice at The Musician's Institute in Baltimore and Triple R Guitar in Lemoyne, Pa. Ronnie Younkins moved to L.A. and wrote, recorded, and released the album "The Slimmer Twins - Lack of
Luxury" as a collaboration with singer Jeremy L. White in 2000. In 2002 he founded The Blues Vultures, maturing into the lead singer and main songwriter position and followed in 2005 with the
album "The Blues Vultures - Cheap Guitars & Honky Tonk Bars." Brian Forsythe plays in The Snakehandlers and has recently been on tour as the guitar player of Rhino Bucket. Brian can be
heard on the Bucket's 2005 release 'And Then It Got Ugly'. Steve Whiteman, Jimmy Chalfant, Ronnie Younkins, and Brian Forsythe have teamed up a few times a year for the last few years to do KIX reunion shows in the Maryland/Pennsylvania area that have been very well received.
Then in the summer of 2008 KIX performed outside their home area for the first time in 13 years at two of the biggest rock festivals in the US. Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma and Rock the Bayou in
Houston, TX. KIX was hailed by many music websites and attendees as “Best Performance” at both festivals. These were both massive rock festival where KIX played alongside acts such as Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Telsa, Queensrÿche, Ratt, Lita Ford, Warrant and more. Since then KIX has been performing more and more shows at festivals, casinos and biker rally’s across the country impressing promoters with their top notch performances and cult following of fans who seem to turn up in big numbers to see them everywhere they play.
Autograph left an everlasting imprint on rock 'n' roll. The platinum-selling Southern California hard rock juggernauts gave the world the ubiquitous hit "Turn Up the Radio", seminal albums such as Sign In Please , That's The Stuff , and Loud and Clear  as well as unforgettable sold out shows alongside everybody from Mötley Crüe and Ronnie James Dio to Van Halen and Aerosmith. Given those accolades, when they disbanded in 1989, they never left the hearts and minds of millions of fans around the globe. Simply put, a reunion was both inevitable and essential.
In 2011, founding guitarist Steve Lynch and bassist Randy Rand decided to meet up at the NAMM show in Anaheim. They rekindled their friendship first, opening up the lines of communication and bonding more than ever before. Almost two years after that encounter, Rand contacted drummer Keni Richards on Facebook, attending the skinsman's art gallery. With the relationship rebuilt, they made a collective decision to jam again. However, there was just one missing link.
"We approached our original singer Steve Plunkett about a reunion," recalls Lynch. "Unfortunately, he didn't have the time to join the band again due to how busy his business is. He did give us his blessing to move forward though, and that was important. There are so many eighties bands out there touring and having fun with it. We were one of the few that hadn't been out there. We missed our fans. This is for them."
Fully embracing the future, the remaining members caught some videos of singer Simon Daniels of Jailhouse on YouTube. Instantly, they sensed a connection and knew that he was meant for the open spot in the center stage.
"He has big shoes to fill," smiles Rand. "Nevertheless, he was born to front Autograph. His hard-edged, bluesy voice and massive riffing sharpen our edge. He's given us a new energy, and he impressed us immediately."
"We all had a euphoric feeling after the first rehearsal," Lynch adds. "These songs hadn't been played in 25 years, and it was indescribable. It was great to be making music with my friends again."
With the lineup solidified, Autorgraph stand poised to shake rock 'n' roll up yet again. It's as if every element has been enhanced from the guitars and drums to the bass and vocals.
Lynch puts it best, "We're much heavier than before. We're not using keyboards and we're tuning down for a much fatter sound. That strengthens everything. At the same time, the melodic vocals and catchy hooks are still an integral part of our sound."
Right now, they're gearing up for 2014's Monsters of Rock cruise and a host of touring worldwide. In addition, Autograph's imprint expands yet again with new music looming on the horizon. Get ready to "Turn Up the Radio" all over again.
"Although Bang Tango was often lumped in with the whole '80s glam metal movement (perhaps due to their pretty-boy looks and the fact that they hailed from Los Angeles, CA), the hard-rockin' quintet was one of the few L.A. glam groups to incorporate funk into its sound -- around the same time as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Faith No More made it acceptable to do so. Their lineup consisted of Joe Lesté (vocals), Kyle Stevens (guitar), Mark Knight (guitar), Kyle Kyle (bass), and Tigg Ketler (drums), and gained the interest of Mechanic/MCA shortly after the quintet issued the in-concert recording Live Injection in 1987. Their major-label debut, Psycho Cafe, was issued in 1989, and despite MTV's Headbanger's Ball program giving some air time to their single/video "Someone Like You," the album failed to break the band into the big time.
The group continued to issue albums during the early part of the '90s -- 1991's Dancin' on Coals, 1992's Ain't No Jive...Live!, and 1994's Love After Death -- but with the emergence of the Seattle movement, bands like Bang Tango became passé with most of the metal community. The band broke up shortly thereafter, with bassist Kyle joining former Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe's industrial project, the Newlydeads, while Lesté did some time as a stand-in for L.A. Guns (Ketler and Knight also resurfaced in the group the Worry Beads). In 1998, Kyle and Lesté resurrected the Bang Tango name for the 1998 release Live (on the Cleopatra label). A best-of compilation, Greatest Tricks, saw the light of day in 1999, as did United and Live the same year. In 2001, Lesté formed a more modern-sounding alt-metal outfit, Beautiful Creatures, issuing a self-titled debut the same year on Warner Bros., and toured as part of Ozzfest. For Danger Danger, good things seem to come in twos.
Formed in 1987 by Bruno Ravel and Steve West, and rounded out by Ted Poley, Andy Timmons and Kasey Smith, it didn't take long for the band to be noticed by Epic Records' Lennie Petze. Petze, who had earlier discovered Boston, Cyndi Lauper and Aldo Nova, to name a few, made Danger Danger the first signing to his newly minted Imagine Records. Released in 1989, the self-titled Imagine/Epic release struck gold. While touring with Kiss, Alice Cooper, Warrant and Extreme, the band smashed out two hit singles at both radio and MTV - the classic Naughty Naughty, and highly infectious Bang Bang. Good things for Danger Danger did indeed, come in twos.
1991 saw the release of Screw It! With extensive touring and overwhelming press coverage, Screw It! actualized two hits, Monkey Business and I Still Think About You. Another tour with Kiss, this time in Europe, and a second sold out headlining tour of Japan, solidified Danger Danger’s place in the rock world.
Now a hot commodity, success could be seen night after sold-out night, whether they were opening for the biggest rock acts or headlining venues on their own.
In 1993, Danger Danger recorded their 3rd disc for Sony titled Cockroach, however, due to legal wrangling, the album wouldn’t see the light of day until eight years later.
Upon completion of the album, the band parted ways with lead singer Ted Poley. Needing a replacement, friend and former Elektra recording artist, Canadian Paul Laine stepped in. The lead vocals were re-recorded with Laine and the album
was back on the release schedule. The band and Sony were both soon hit with lawsuits from the departed singer, thus causing Sony to decide it was in their best interest to
shelve the record. Eventually the band amicably parted ways with the label.
In 1995, Bruno Ravel and Steve West formed Low Dice Records, and released their first album for the label - Dawn. Conceived during this dark chapter for the band, the record was somewhat of a departure from their earlier work, reflecting
a somber and introspective tone, both musically and lyrically.
1998 saw the release of Four The Hard Way, a return to the band’s original melodic rock roots. The album was heralded as a classic in the genre, receiving rave reviews throughout the world.
The Return Of The Great Gildersleeves followed in 2000. It too, was greeted with stellar reviews from critics and fans the world over, further helping cement the band's reputation.
In 2001, the long awaited, and eagerly anticipated Cockroach was finally released. In a joint venture with Sony Music, Low Dice Records issued a 2 CD set featuring both versions of the album. Disc one features then current vocalist Paul Laine,
while disc two features original lead vocalist Ted Poley.
The response was overwhelming. The album consistently landed on top ten lists everywhere. It has been hailed as Danger Danger’s finest album to date.
In 2002, VH1 voted the group one of the “Top 40 Hairbands Of All Time,” landing at number 25, and featuring them in their hit special VH1’s “Top 40 Hairbands Of All Time.” Later that year, the band scored another coup when their song Naughty Naughty Xmas was featured in the #1 movie in America – Disney’s "The Santa Clause 2."
2003 was filled with many highlights, beginning with the release of Rare Cuts, a collection of unreleased and rare tracks. Following the success of the album, the band triumphantly returned to the UK (after a ten year absence) and Spain, wowing fans and critics alike. The end of the year also saw the release of the critically acclaimed We Wish You A Hairy Christmas, a collection of Christmas songs featuring some of the biggest “hair bands” of all time. Singling out the band,
Rolling Stone had this to say: “Danger Danger’s Naughty Naughty Xmas affirms that beneath all the hair spray, the Eighties-metal boom included a bunch of totally rocking Cheap Trick tribute bands.” More praise came as Guitar For The Practicing Musician magazine declared Danger Danger’s
self-titled debut one of the “50 Greatest Guitar Albums Of The ‘80s.”
2004, looks to be an even more exciting year with the return of original vocalist Ted Poley after an eleven-year absence. The band will return to the road this summer with an extensive tour. Sweden Rock will be one of their first shows in Scandinavia, with many dates to follow throughout Europe, Brazil, Canada and the USA.
FireHouse has been rockin’ for over a decade. Their music has taken them all
over the world and has produced Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum records
in the United States and countries abroad.
In 1990, their first album, entitled FireHouse, was released. The band’s first
single, Shake & Tumble, had impressive radio success. The band then
released Don’t Treat Me Bad, which became their first Top Ten hit. This
was followed by Love of a Lifetime, which also entered the Top Ten,
reaching the #3 spot on the United States charts. This string of hits vaulted
their first album to double platinum status in the United States; also going
gold in Canada, Japan and Singapore. At the 1991 American Music Awards,
Firehouse found themselves standing before the nation accepting the award
for Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band, chosen over Nirvana and Alice in
The band’s second album, Hold Your Fire, was released in 1992. It
produced the hits Reach for the Sky and Sleeping with You. Another Top
Ten hit, When I Look into Your Eyes, peaked on the United States charts
at #5. This album earned the band two more gold albums and over 1 million
In 1995, Firehouse released their third album on Epic, simply titled 3. Once
again, Firehouse produced another Top Forty hit in the United States with I
Live My Life For You. It was with this album that Firehouse made their first
trip to Southeast Asia for a promotional tour. Earlier American hits like Don’t
Treat Me Bad, Love of a Lifetime and When I Look into Your Eyes had
climbed the charts in Asia. Here for You, the second single from 3, had also
become a hit. The band then continued their promotional tour in South
American countries such as Brazil and Argentina.
Their fourth album, Good Acoustics, was released in 1996 and quickly went

unplugged versions of the group’s greatest hits, as well as four new songs.
This album produced foreign hits such as In Your Perfect World, Love
Don’t Care and You Are My Religion. The band returned to Southeast Asia
for another promotional tour at the end of 1996. Then, in February 1997,
Firehouse embarked on their first concert tour of Southeast Asia playing sold
out shows for fans in Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan. During May
and June they toured the United States before returning to Southeast Asia in
July for an unprecedented twenty-five city sold out tour of Indonesia.
In 1998, Firehouse toured the United States on the Rock Never Stops tour,
which also included Slaughter, Warrant, Quiet Riot, and LA Guns. October of
1998 featured the Asian release of Firehouse’s fifth CD, Category 5 on Pony
Canyon Records. The album quickly climbed to #4 on the Japanese charts,
and supporting promotional tour of Japan followed. Category 5 was officially
released in the United States in 1999.
Firehouse continued touring through the winter and spring of 1999, including
3 more sold out shows in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. On April 22, 1999, the
band recorded their live show in Osaka. The result - the first ever live album
by Firehouse. Bring ‘em Out Live was released in Japan in December 1999
and in the United States on Spitfire Records in July 2000.
The turn of the century brought the release their seventh album, titled O2. It
has been released in SE Asia on Pony Canyon Records, and in the US on
Spitfire Records. This album had notable success despite the changing style
of popular rock music. During this time, the band decided to part ways with
original bass player, Perry Richardson. O2’s remarkable bass playing was
supplied by Bruce Waibel. Bruce brought to the band his phenomenal bass
playing along with is equally impressive sense of humor. We truly regret to
say that in September 2003, Bruce has passed away. He will be greatly
missed as a friend and talented musician.
FireHouse headed back into the studio in early 2003 to write and record their
8th album, PRIME TIME. As music changes over time, FireHouse continues
to evolve their musical style; yet, at the same time, hang onto their hard
rock roots. Released in October of 2003, album number 8 is no exception.

L.A. Guns is an American rock band whose music is frequently associated with the L.A. glam metal scene which grew up around the Sunset Strip in the 1980s, in particular the sleaze rock subgenre. Guns N' Roses, which once featured three of the original L.A. Guns members, was the most prominent exponent of this subgenre, generally preferring an anti-social image to elaborate make-up and costumes. Today two bands share and tour using the L.A. Guns name: One is headed by Tracii Guns, the founder of the original band, and the other is headed by Phil Lewis and Steve Riley, the singer and drummer of the most successful incarnation of the band.
During September 2002, founding guitarist Tracii Guns became very involved in Brides of Destruction, a new project with Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx. Guns saw the project as an opportunity to recapture the fan and street-credibility he had held in the late 1980s and signed on as lead guitarist for Brides of Destruction. In 2004, the new band embarked on a World Tour, and the future of L.A. Guns was in doubt until both Steve Riley and Phil Lewis told the Hairball John Radio Show that the band would continue despite Tracii Guns' involvement in Brides of Destruction.
They had gone through several guitarists since Tracii Guns departed in October 2002. With a new guitarist named Stacey Blades, L.A. Guns released the covers album Rips the Covers Off. The band recorded and released Tales from the Strip in August 2005. It is the only U.S> released L.A. Guns album not to feature Tracii Guns (there was also a Japan-only live album released in 1992).

In 2005 a remastered set of demos, which were recorded around the time L.A. Guns wrote their first album (before Phil Lewis joined) was released, featuring Paul Black on vocals. The album was called Black List. The album featured much of the same material as the band's first two studio albums, which Paul Black had a considerable role in writing before being dismissed from the band. This was surprising to many L.A. Guns fans since Black was denied credit on the first two albums and the information was never made public until the Black List release. Soon after this, as the Brides of Destruction's second album did not maintain the success of the first, Tracii Guns put together a "solo" band and focused his attention on that.
The Tracii Guns Band featured former L.A. Guns members Paul Black, Nickey "Beat" Alexander and Tracii Guns, as well as Jeremy Carson, and Jason Saenz. The band soon began using the L.A. Guns name because it contained three founding members of the band.
In an odd twist on October 10, 2006, Phil Lewis joined Paul Black and Tracii Guns onstage at the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Cathouse, a Hollywood club run by Riki Rachtman and Taime Downe. The two frontmen dueted on the band's song "Rip and Tear".

QUIET RIOT is a rock & roll phenomenon.
