An Evening with Charla Lauriston

Joined by some of her favorite comedians, Charla Lauriston returns to Brooklyn to work out a new hour of standup comedy about growing up Haitian in America. Charla started her comedy career in New York but is currently a Los Angeles based stand-up comedian and television writer who’s been described as “Self-assured and gleefully sarcastic” (WNYC) and “One of the most exciting and original voices in comedy” (Splitsider). Hailing from New York by way of Boston by way of Haiti, Charla’s sharp observations on everything from family to race to pop culture and the absurd minutia of everyday life are delivered with a matter-of-fact punch to the gut. A tested comedy writer, Charla has written for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Comedy Central’s Why? W/ Hannibal Buress, TBS’ People of Earth, and FOX’s Ghosted. She's appeared on The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail and has performed at festivals around the country. Her webseries 'Clench and Release' has been featured in Indie Wire, Paste Magazine, Bustle, Splitsider, WNYC, and Glamour Magazine listed it as a Web Series to Watch.

Kerry Coddett

Kerry Coddett [Cah-dit] is a New York- based stand-up comedian, actress, and writer. Touted as “inimitable” by The Huffington Post and as “a rising star” by the Interrobang, she has also been featured in numerous publications, including Entertainment Weekly,, Elite Daily, Splitsider,, Buzzfeed, and Salon.
Kerry is currently a staff writer on Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas, produced by John Oliver, and airing on HBO. Kerry has also appeared on season 2 of HBO’s Crashing, and has made appearances on BET's The Rundown with Robin Thede and performed stand up on 50 Central. She was the most frequent guest panelist on Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, a reoccurring cast member on MTV’s Joking Off and she’s also appeared on TruTV’s Comedy Knockout, Huffington Post Live, and Essence Live.

Tanael Joachim

Tanael Joachim is a standup comedian based in New York City but, born and raised in Haiti. Recently, he was featured on Good Day New York on FOX. Tanael has a very laid back, smooth, and conversational style and he jokes about race, society’s idiosyncrasies, and the inherent contrast between life in Haiti and America. Some people say his humor is smart and eye-opening; he would probably agree with these people.

Jaboukie Young-White

Jaboukie Young-White is a Brooklyn based comedian from Chicago. He was recently featured in Rolling Stones 25 under 25. He gets off tweets and performs all over the city on the reg. Follow him @jaboukie

Joyelle Johnson

Joyelle's comedy has taken her from coast to coast. Currently residing in Brooklyn, NY she has performed at Caroline’s on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, Comix, and Stand Up NY just to name a few. She gained her start in Los Angeles and all over Southern California at The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, and the various Improvs. As well as spending time in the South performing at Atlanta’s own Punchline, Laughing Skull and Uptown Comedy club. As a testament to Joyelle’s burgeoning career and work ethic she has opened for the Boston badboy Bill Burr, musical genius Craig Robinson, mistress of voices Maria Bamford, Brooklyn’s finest Tony Rock, international icon Gina Yashere, youtube sensation Eric Schwartz, and The Mo’Nique Show scripter Vanessa Fraction. Comedienne Maria Bamford says,"She inspires me to remember that if I put in the effort, beautiful results will follow. She’s also really kind, down-to-earth, generous, super-funny, and altogether the kind of artist that I aspire to be."
