Bandits on the Run
Brooklyn based whimsical/criminal outfit Bandits on the Run is a refreshing millennial answer to the good old tunes of days of yore. Forged in the acoustics of NYC subway stations, the group's signature 3 part harmonic voice stands at the center of the equation. They are known for their high energy and rousing theatricality in their live shows, their unique sound veering from shades of Motown to brit-pop to punk-rock to good old fashioned indie-folk sincerity on a dime. The bandits have also gained notoriety for bringing various non-music shenanigans to their performances, including but not limited to shadow puppet shows, costumed characters, and party favors.
Since their inception, they've brought their particular brand of live performance, charisma, and robust harmonic inventiveness from many a subway stop and street corner to a slew of notable NYC institutions including ROUGH TRADE, MERCURY LOUNGE, and CITY WINERY. 2017 saw the release of the Bandits' debut album The Criminal Record, crafted under the guidance of producer William Garrett, to much much indie-NYC critical acclaim, including an Album of The Year feature by Sinister Girlz Radio. 2018 saw them touring Europe after winning the NYC Coffee Music Project with their new song “Love in the Underground”. Their 2019 Tiny Desk Contest entry of the song gained the attention of NPR music, earning a “Top Shelf of the Tiny Desk” feature. Stay tuned for their forthcoming EP, Bandits Live at the Power Station, slated for release August 2019 on a platform near you!
Edinburgh-born, half-American, hyphen-loving Daisy Chute is a folk songstress and multi-instrumentalist with a particular penchant for the banjo. Formerly of Decca’s platinum-selling classical group All Angels, she is excited to be working on her début album of original songs with producer and songwriter Tim Baxter (Andy Burrows, Editors, Nick Mulvey, Jasmine Thompson). A regular in the London music scene and an award-winning singer and songwriter having just been awarded first place in the Coffee Music Project singer-songwriter competition, Daisy has been taught and mentored by rock royalty Sir Ray Davies, featured as a vocalist on Radiohead's latest album A Moon Shaped Pool, and even got the thumbs up from Sir Paul McCartney after a performance at the Royal Albert Hall. One of Paul Sexton's 'top music tips' for 2018, Daisy's music has been compared to Simon and Garfunkel and Joni Mitchell (BBC Radio Kent) and her voice has been described as “Exquisitely delicious. Delicate, like a gossamer-winged creature made out of spun gold." Tony Moore (Soho Radio, The Bedford)
