The Funky Knuckles
The inevitable result of a talent-soaked soul and jazz community, The Funky Knuckles are taking the sound of Dallas to an entirely different level. They have been together for six years and have played on stages across the U.S and around the world. The band is comprised of musicians and producers who have worked with some of the most respected acts in the music industry (Beyonce, Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Talib Kweli, Chris Dave, The Polyphonic Spree, etc.), yet possess a sound distinctly separate from any of their individual projects.
The Funky Knuckles move together musically as a school of fish, never complacent and always stretching the boundaries of improvisation and composition. Whether performing original music or standards, they draw from each member's musical experiences to create their unique genre-bending sound. They are currently touring internationally and working on new music for their 4th album.
Their second album "Meta-Musica" held the #1 position on the iTunes jazz charts for over a week. They played for sold out audiences across Europe in April 2016 on their first tour overseas.

Jonathan Scales Fourchestra
Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is an example of musical sincerity. Weaving together collective and individual influences without compromise, they are as much themselves as they are a unit—a crucial trait of landmark instrumental ensembles. Steel pannist and founder Jonathan Scales’ compositional skill mixes with tasteful, avant-garde improvisations to form a totally unique approach to an instrument often associated with cruise ships and tropical music. Driftwood Magazine says “Scales is to steel pans ….what Béla Fleck is to the banjo—an über innovator.”
Drummer and percussionist Phill Bronson drives the Fourchestra’s time-shifting, modern grooves with “graceful polyrhythmic chops” (Modern Drummer) and the listening ability of a true master. (He can also make a three-piece drum kit sound like a ten-piece.)
Cody Wright rounds out the ensemble with gut-wrenching grooves and blistering, soulful melodic lines. A true innovator on the electric bass, Wright’s mix of flash and feel adds a unique depth to the Fourchestra. Ropeadope Records called him “The most exciting bass player to be seen on the scene.”
The Jonathan Scales Fourchestra explodes onto stages with an indescribable sound that is as much felt as it is heard, and is said to have “a Thelonius Monk-like attitude with a Mozart creativity” (Pan on the Net)
2013’s self-titled collaborative album on Ropeadope Records features guest collaborators Victor Wooten and Howard Levy (Béla Fleck and the Flecktones) and is fully orchestrated with horns and strings.
In 2014, the Fourchestra will release “Mixtape Symphony,” a dense, half-hour long-form album inspired by and dedicated to Roy “Futureman” Wooten. The album features the core trio and is slated for release on Ropeadope in May. The band is touring stateside in support of the new release. Tour dates can be found at http://www.jonscales.com/tour
