Kate Berlant is an LA based writer/performer who has performed across the US in festivals such as the New York Comedy Festival, Festival Supreme, Treasure Island, Boston Calling, and Moontower. Her performances have been commissioned by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and she has been described by The New York Times as a "magnetic improvisational comic" at the forefront of experimental comedy. She has been named by Time Out New York as one of New York City's "Top Three Comics to Watch" as well as one of Comedy Central's "Comics to Watch", and articles about her have been featured in The New Yorker, The Fader, Esquire, Playboy, Rookie Magazine, and the Huffington Post. Kate most recently co-wrote and starred in the Independent Spirit Award-nominated Vimeo series, “555,” directed by Andy DeYoung, Demetri Martin’s feature, “Dean,” “Little Bitches,” written and directed by Nick Kreiss, and “Happy Anniversary,” written and directed by Jared Stern. Up next, she can be seen in Boots Riley’s directorial debut, “Sorry to Bother You,” which recently premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim, as well as the Duplass Brothers’ DUCK BUTTER, alongside Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman and Kumail Nanjiani. In the television space, Kate was featured on Netflix Presents: The Characters, Joe Swanberg’s “Easy” on Netflix, TBS’s “Search Party,” and “High Maintenance” on HBO.
John Early is a comedian who recently created and starred in his own episode of Netflix's The Characters. He'll be appearing soon in the film Neighbors 2, The Disaster Artist opposite Sharon Stone, the upcoming TBS comedy Search Party, and a mini series for Vimeo with frequent collaborator Kate Berlant.
His previous credits include Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Love, Animals, Broad City, High Maintenance, Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, 30 Rock, and the indie features Fort Tilden (SXSW Grand Jury Prize) and Other People (2016 Sundance opening night film). He was a writer on season 4 of truTV's Billy on the Street.
Early is an Artist in Residence and Comedy Curator at Ars Nova, where he hosts the monthly variety show Showgasm. He performs a live sketch show Hey™ with Kate Berlant, co-hosts a weekly stand up show at Cake Shop, and has been a part numerous comedy festivals including Just For Laughs, South by Southwest, Riot LA, Treasure Island Music Festival, and Festival Supreme. He was named one of Time Out New York's Top Ten Comedians of 2015.
