The Burning Hell
The Burning Hell is the alter-ego of songwriter Mathias Kom, joined by Ariel Sharratt (bass clarinet and drums) and Darren Browne (bouzouki and bass guitar). The band has been on the road in one form or another since 2007, popping up everywhere from Glastonbury to Lapland, but calls Eastern Kings County PEI home. Musically, the lineup and sound of the Burning Hell has been constantly changing, running the gamut from introspective folk to hyperactive rock and roll. This means both that no two Burning Hell records sound alike, and that the band can adapt to its surroundings like a karma of anthropomorphic chameleons, taking the audience on a supermarket-cart ride through hooky, upbeat pop songs, dark ballads about pet euthanasia, and anthems for barbarians, economic conferences, and love. The Burning Hell holds an unofficial world record for playing 10 shows in 10 countries in 24 hours, and the band is so committed to the road that sometimes they forget to stand still: this is their first PEI show in five years!
"Power Party aspires to be all that Alex Casey is not, and maybe that’s cool, and maybe it isn’t. Trying to find the line between insanity and true emotion, this musical project in perpetual puberty likes taking temper tantrums to a new level. Blurring the vision of the recordings produced from the bedroom, Power Party’s live performances fuse multiple genres including indy rawk, emotional punk, and shoegaze with a hearty helping of noise on top of it all. What was that? I’m not too sure. Maybe, just maybe, if you listen in, you’ll find it (because who else even knows what it is?)."
