Pedro Iaco and Manuel Linhares - Nomadic Voices

A Brazilian singer and another from Portugal met in New York while studying with the renowned Bobby Mcferrin and found transatlantic musical affinities. That is how this duo starts to shape itself. Whether singing completely improvised songs, or each ones compositions, Pedro Iaco and Manuel Linhares combine their voices with refinement and mastery over the sound of a seven string guitar. Both with a released original album – Rio Escuro and Traces of Cities – they will perform in this duo songs that gather Brazilian music, jazz and vocal improvisation.

Pedro Iaco is a singer, composer and guitar player from Brazil. He studied classical singing with Solange Gonçalves and vocal art with Madalena Bernardes and Gillermo Rozenthuler. In 2009 he moves to London where he worked with the Vocal Investigator Phil Minton and where he entered the circuit of free improvisation and contemporary music. He studied guitar with Emiliano Castro and Chico Saraiva and Improvisation with bobby Mcferrin, Walmir Gil and Rhiannon. In 2017 he released his first album of original music “Rio Escuro” with his duo Iasi Iaco. He performed with important musicians such as Guinga, Bobby Mcferrin and Tommy Emmanuel.

Manuel Linhares is a Portuguese Jazz singer dedicated to performance, composition and teaching. Besides his degree in Jazz Music by ESMAE – Porto, he studied in “Tallers de Muzics” – Barcelona and in the Jazz Institute of Berlin. He worked and studied with renowned international musicians like: Bobby Mcferrin, Judy Niemack, Theo Bleckmann, John Hollenbeck, David Linx, Rhiannon, Rebecca Martin, Becca Stevens, Gretchen Parlato and also, the extraordinary Meredith Monk. He had also the opportunity to work with major Portuguese musicians like José Mário Branco, Rui Veloso, Sofia Ribeiro, Pedro Moreira and Claus Nymark. He took part in several albums as a guest and in 2013 he releases his first album of original music entitled “Traces of Cities”.
