Classixx (DJ Set), Cassian, Set Mo, Lauren Ritter, Mike Guimond, Seth Magoon, Kowloon Baby

Like a balmy breeze from a world of endless summer, Classixx are back with Faraway Reach, a buoyant follow-up to their 2013 debut -- something to cruise to with the top down, from festival fields to the beach, from the dance floor to the shotgun seat. Faraway Reach casts Classixx's young-but-nostalgic melodies and sublime chords in a more mature, restrained light, albeit no less lively and bright. Establishing themselves as producers of note on their debut LP (Pitchfork called them "great songwriters, too"), Faraway Reach delivers powerfully smooth and soulful jewels that are still decidedly their own -- the Classixx signature is one that can't be traced. Their love of plaintive voices and disco-inspired grooves is as evident as ever, but this time around everything is a bit bolder, the cast is bigger, the melodies distilled into a higher potency -- it's all just as good, but better. The album traverses locales, vocalists and inspirations. It's a fitting movement for the duo, from Venice beach to the mountains of South Africa and everywhere in between -- a Faraway Reach.

Cassian has become one of Australia’s busiest exports, clocking up some serious miles performing all over the world in clubs from LA to Rome, Warsaw to Shanghai & Vancouver to Singapore. Or as he would put it “Yews all over the world.” Cassian has been keeping busy inside the studio as well, producing his own music and mixing/engineering for the likes of Classixx, Rufus & Mitzi.

2012 saw the release of Cassian’s third solo EP, The Love Cuts. New York City’s Nurvous Records (legendary dance label -Nervous Record’s sister label) released the ‘modern house’ with a ‘disco punch’ record with support from MK, Oliver Koletzki, Aeroplane & Zombie Disco Squad to name a few .’I Love It’ was echoed around the world when the aptly titled single reached #3 on Beatport’s Indie Dance/Nu Disco chart.

But Cassian may have saved the best for last when he debuted ‘On & On’ at the end of November. Currently receiving worldwide blog support, including a premiere on Gotta Dance Dirty, and airplay from Australia’s own Triple J.

In between releases he garnered praise for recent remixes of Rufus, Anna Lunoe & Touch Sensitive and RAC & Penguin Prison. Topping the Hype machine multiple times, each remix has clocked over 100,000 plays on soundcloud alone & received diverse support from DJs such as Damian Lazarus, Bondax & Bag Raiders. Cassian has completed a slew of well received remixes for artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, Flight Facilities, The Rapture, Bag Raiders, Miami Horror, PNAU, Empire of the Sun, Classixx, Gigamesh, Citizens!, and more.

With several tours across North America, Asia and Europe and appearances at the biggest festivals in Australia: Splendour in the Grass, Stereosonic, Creamfields and The Big Day Out, it’s clear this Aussie golden boy has an unparalled energy that will continue to dominante dance floors in 2013.
