Classic Album Sundays D.C. Presents Bob Marley & The Wailers "Burnin'"

Classic Album Sundays is the world’s most popular album listening experience and allows the listener to hear music contextually, communally, uninterrupted, and in great sonic detail. At our worldwide listening sessions, music fans are able to immerse themselves into an album that has helped shape our culture and in some cases, our lives.

We relay the artist and album’s unique story and provide a musical context that gives the listening experience deeper meaning. We share the experience of hearing the album in its entirety, on vinyl, and on a world-class audiophile hi-fi so that fans can experience the music as close as possible to the artist’s original intention. Classic Album Sundays treats the album (and music in general) with the respect it deserves rather than as a free commodity or aural wallpaper. We remind people what they love about music.

For our April 2018 session we celebrate classic Bob Marley & The Wailers album "Burnin'" on its 45th anniversary! Righteous and seriously in the pocket, this is the last Wailers album with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. Bob Marley's soulful cry is rivaled by the sticky organ riffs and fat-bottom beats, and their original version of "I Shot the Sheriff" is far more desperate than Eric Clapton's hit cover

The legacy of "Burnin'" goes deep. In 2003, the album was ranked number 319 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Lauryn Hill's album cover for her debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was inspired by the album cover of Burnin'. In 2007 the album was added to the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry for its historical and cultural significance.

Join us at one of our album listening sessions around the world to experience Bob Marley & The Wailers in a way you never have before.
