Mike MiZwinski

Sunday, Main Stage 12 - 1
MiZ is a soulful, Rock-Americana artist from Northeast Pennsylvania who is know as an acoustic and electric guitar virtuoso. His sound is directly impacted by the coal mining region of PA and the songs evoke the rustic tones and imagery you would expect from the region and it's cultural heritage. The singer / songwriter / guitarist Mike Mizwinski gives name to the band and his solo work and it is his heart and soul-- poured into the words and his guitar-- that drives it all forward. In the last year MiZ has opened for Derek Trucks Band, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Blues Traveler, Shawn Colvin, Lyle Lovett, Leon Russell, Railroad Earth and many more. Mike has played over 450 shows since 2010 spanning from Berlin Germany -Northern Canada - Los Angeles - Austin, Texas - New York City and everywhere in between. This summer proved to be one of the most rewarding times in the artist's career as MiZ was invited to play the Allman Brother's- Peach Festival, and the Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport CT, amongst many others. Mike is now endorsing Framus/Warwick guitars and won the Tri-State Indie "Acoustic Artist of the Year" award two years in a row- 2011 & 2012.

Which one of you guys is Willie Jack?"
Well, that's a long story, but Willie Jack and the Northern Light has been playing it's own style of music for over 10 years bringing fun times and fine musicianship to festivals, clubs, and gatherings throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. Drawing heavily from a multitude of influences and styles, yet flavored with their own sense of original expression, their genre has been labeled Jam, Experimental and Americana.

No stranger to the festival scene, Willie Jack and the Northern Light has appeared at Bears Picnic every year since the Central PA festival's inception, opening for the likes of New Riders of the Purple Sage, Dark Star Orchestra and Splintered Sunlight. Other noted appearances have included the NY State Harvest Festival, the PA State Greenway Conference, Gasstock, LibertyFest, Trails End HarvestFest, Jam Along the Creek, Peace of MindFest The Dam Show, Kind Roots Festival, and S.H.A.R.E Fest and Willies Midnight Crazy Train Campout. Having released their debut album, "Where You Want To Be," in July 2012, Willie Jack & the Northern Light continues their tradition of delivering the goods to the fans...

, Jeff Oshetski fronts the band on lead guitar and vocals. Jeff has shared the stage with members of the New Riders,as well as the Zen Tricksters and opened for many national acts. . Joe Raup formed the band with Oshetski and plays rhythm guitar and adds clear vocal harmonies and sweet rhythm accents. Joe also shares most of the songwriting duties with Jeff.

The Bass is handled by multi Instrumentalist Steve Joe George. We are proud to have Steve as our most recent member, and he been developmental in continuing the search for the perfect groove.
Joe Ciarvella, the bands drummer and Producer, also comes from a gifted musical legacy. . Joe recorded, mixed and produced the bands debut album in Willie Jacks private project studio, Peach Mountain Records. Joe toured the country with many note worthy bands including International JamBand pioneers, The Zen Tricksters. Joe also has played with many former Grateful Dead members and their extended family of bands...i.e. (Members of Phil and Friends, Ratdog, JGB, NRPS)

Mike Whalen on keys and organ round out the line-up. Mike can add beautiful piano runs or jump into synthesized funk fills and when he and Oshetski share leads.

Whether playing acoustic and exploring rural roots or jamming electric and going into experimental realms Willie Jack and the Northern Light always delivers a fine show. One love!

Current Location

Mark Diomede & Friends

Mark Diomede is an interstellar lead guitarist and founder of the Juggling Suns Project hailing from New Jersey. He's traveling back to Mountain Sky once again with a group of musicians that are sure to blow the roof off the listening lounge.

To name a few: Mark's partner in strings from JSuns Tim Morris on guitar. Jeff Pearlman on keys who absolutely blew us away at this year's Still Grateful Fest. Paul Avrutin on bass from Dead on Live and Rainbow Full of Sound. And Danny Albi from Lovelight holding it down behind the kit
In traditional Mountain Sky fashion there will be more musicians added, and surely some local players jumping into the mix.

Chris Zawatsky opens the night with a one man solo acoustic set. His band Philthy Phingers played the opening set at at Still Grateful Fest and truly turned a lot of heads.

The Kind Buds

The music they play is solely acoustic - they use no enhancements in any of their performances and play from their hearts.
