Valkyrja, the 7 full-length album from the Faroe Islands natives TÝR, is a concept album with a story line based loosely around an nameless Viking age warrior who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Fólkvangr, the home of Freyja—the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women. Frontman and founder Heri Joensen goes on to explain; “the woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women.”
Recorded at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with Jacob Hansen who handled production, mixing and mastering, the band began writing guitars and drums for Valkyrja over a year ago with melody lines and arrangements being handled in the studio. “I had the story outline and approximate titles very early in the writing process, but only very late, maybe almost too late, did I write the actual lyrics,” comments Heri Joensen. The band’s drummer, Kári Streymoy, parted ways with TÝR after the band completed their US run on Pagan Fest and before they entered the studio so TÝR enlisted George Kollias who stepped in to handle recording duties on Valkyrja. In terms of what the band hopes fans take away from the album, bassist Gunnar H. Thomsen states “I hope they will enjoy it and they like the new direction as well as (guitarist) Terji's bigger involvement in writing and George's drumming. We had a more upbeat direction without changing TÝR's style.”
Fans will be able to get their hands on TÝR's upcoming release and Metal Blade Records debut, Valkyrja, on 9/17 in North America, 9/16 in Europe & the UK, and 9/13 in the G/A/S/I district.
Israeli band with roots in the Death/Doom Metal scene which has been adding progressively more and more Prog Rock and oriental elements (e.g. Israeli and Morrocan Folk) to their music in the course of their career.

Ghost Ship Octavius
Ghost Ship Octavius was formed in 2014 by guitarist Matt Wicklund (God Forbid, Himsa) and drummer Van Williams (Nevermore, Ashes of Ares, Pure Sweet Hell). After some searching for a singer the duo soon discovered what they were looking for in the very talented up and coming vocalist, guitarist Adōn Fanion. In April of 2014 the trio launched a KickStarter campaign and successfully raised from anticipating backers over 17k for their debut album. After the 45 day campaign the band fine tuned their sound with the help of producer/ guitarist ( 7 horns 7 eyes) Aaron Smith (envisage audio) and have come out the other end with 11 stunning tracks that are rich with a unique blend of melody, texture, atmosphere and groove. The group also asked bassist Dagna Silesia (The People Now) to lay down some bass tracks for the record and to join them for live shows when the time comes to hit the stage.
With the album releasing world wide March 23rd 2015, the inevitable live shows grow increasingly near!
Stay tuned as this Ghost ship is about to set sail!
From their begining in 2007 in Quebec city, Aeternam has been known for their unique and authentic sound, combining extreme and epic riffs with middle-eastern melodic influences, making a perfect blend of harmony and brutality.
Aeternam's first album "Disciples of the Unseen", released in 2010 via Metal Blade Records, was very well received amongst the worldwide metal community, often cited as best debut album of the year and discovery of the year. Now they are back with a new album, more epic and extreme than ever. The album contains 9 tracks of pure intensity, crushing riffs, pounding basslines and brutal growls paving the way to epic solos, acoustic melodies, symphonic arrangements and large vocal harmonies.
Formed in February 2010, Helsott is America's answer to the extremely popular Pagan Metal genre. Musically, Helsott incorporates many different styles and genres, always keeping a fresh and enjoyable listen that doesn't get stale. The diverse music is centered on the Pagan Themed lyrics which unite the album as a whole.
Helsott's popularity has been growing at an extremely rapid rate. After quickly becoming heroes in the Southern California region, promoters in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Orange County markets quickly took notice of the work ethic and draw of the band, and rewarded Helsott with their choice of touring acts to support.
These great opportunities were seized by the band sky-rocketing their popularity regionally, and placing the band on the radar of Rock the Nation USA, who offered the band a spot on the popular "Paganfest 2013" lineup which they were the only North American act on the entire North American tour in support of Ensiferum, Tyr, Heidevolk, and Trollfest. Knowing the value of this opportunity, Helsott seized the moment, and made sure to take advantage of the crowds they would be performing in front of. The EP, Folkvangr sold out of all copies very soon on tour, and merchandise sales were impressive every night of the tour, forcing early supply reorders.
The demand for a full-length Helsott album was great, so they developed a successful crowdfunding campaign via indiegog to fund the album. They were able to raise over $7000! With "Woven" now complete, Helsott is looking to cement their presence in the halls of metal, and looking to ally them-selves with a reputable record label to help attain the international recognition to help nurture the environment for a successful band.
Warpath is an all Native American band coming out of the Santa Ysabel, Barona, and La Jolla Indian Reservations.
