Joe Gore, Teja Gerken, and Erik Smyth: 3 guitars, No Net!

Marin County guitar fans will want to be in one place on the evening of April 25th, and that is 19 Broadway in Fairfax. Presenting Joe Gore, Teja Gerken, and Erik Smyth, the club will feature a mind-boggling array of solo performances and collaborations by three virtuoso guitarists from vastly different corners of the instrument’s diverse universe, coming together for one night only. From loop-based electric guitar performances of pop covers to contemporary acoustic fingerstyle explorations and original songs, Joe, Teja, and Erik will leave no guitaristic opportunity unexplored.

Joe Gore is a San Francisco-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist fluent in classical music, punk rock, and most styles in between. A current member of Tracy Chapman’s band, Joe has also recorded and/or toured with Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Marianne Faithfull, and many others. Bay Area music lovers will remember him from his work with Oranj Symphonette, Action Plus, Big City, and others. Joe’s solo show is centered around electric guitar and live looping, and he’s as likely to cover David Bowie or Taylor Swift as he is to interpret Bob Dylan or Bela Bartok. Teja Gerken is a contemporary steel-string fingerstyle guitarist known for his original compositions, many of which employ alternate tunings, two-handed tapping, percussive effects, and other extended guitar techniques. His latest CD is Postcards. WEB: VIDEO (1948): HIGH-RES IMAGE:

In the 90’s he was a founding member of the large ensemble funk/soul group The Mo’fessionals, with whom he got to share the stage with Rage Against the Machine, The Fugees, Parliament, Wall Flowers, and War, to name a few. Erik has been on countless recording sessions playing guitar for East Bay Hip Hop artist like Too Short, Boz Scaggs and many others. VIDEO:
