Vega Victoria’s Indie-Americana debut EP, The Long Embrace, was recorded and produced by Ben Tanner, band member of Alabama Shakes. Inspired by those long, blue, empty highways late at night, where the open road is all you can see ahead of you, The Long Embrace pulsates with emotion and that legendary Muscle Shoals Sound. Called “Beautiful, haunting…extremely well crafted” by revered songwriter Dylan LeBlanc, the EP Embrace was recorded at John Paul White’s Sun Drop Sound in Florence, Alabama. The Painted Tree
The Painted Tree's vision of folk/rock is a testament to the potential depth of the words that we all use. The music blends intricate finger-picking melodies with a kind of poetry that taps into something universal, and gives a voice to what often goes unsaid. The strong sense of dynamic, both musically and lyrically, guide the listener though the ups and downs of the human experience.
Wolf & Crow (closing set)
Wolf & Crow is a music duo from San Francisco playing in the American roots, blues and folk tradition comprised of Zachary "Crow" Vieira and Mathieu "Wolf" Stemmelen. While their music shares the acoustic intimacy of folk revival veterans Nick Drake and Bob Dylan as well as neofolk contemporaries such as Iron & Wine and Bon Iver, their sound is set apart by its influences from mid-century bluesmen like Leadbelly, Fred Mcdowell, Skip James, Bill Landford, and Mississippi John Hurt. Vieira's silvery mid-to-high-ranged vocals and laid-back guitar picking peppered with Stemmelen's memorable slide-guitar riffs and even loftier vocal harmonies create a contemporary artifact of something haunting and timeless.
