The Desperate

Solemn music conceived in desperation.

Star Meets Sea

Star Meets Sea's self-titled debut album, recorded at MRX Studios by producer Matt Stegner (The Wimps, Partman Parthorse), captures a band whose five members have discovered a new language between them: one that draws from the past yet doesn't rely on it; wistful, raw and a little dark around the edges. Amanda Navares, previously known mostly as a solo-singer-songwriter, has quickly found her footing as the formidable frontwoman of an all-male band, sharing songwriting duties with drummer Tom Ryon, William Hall (The Turn-Ons), Bryce Wills, and bassist Loui Mancini.

Tracking the debut album over a weekend with live instrumentation allowed little room for overthinking, and the strict timeline paid off; the album captures the DNA of a band best known for enchanting live performances. The album amplifies the naturally raw textures of their sound, latching on to the melodic, moody intent of bands like The Cure and Wire. Traversing Seattle from backrooms and dive bars to main stages and festivals, Star Meets Sea will be touring in support of their new release in spring of 2018.
