Sera Beth Timms

Sera Beth Timms began her solo musical-ritual performance career on December 21, 2010 as director and performer of a Winter Solstice Sacrifice of Serapis Ritual where she was formally unveiled as The Black Mare. This marked the ultimate union of her skills as a musician and professional tarot card reader, combing song and ritual to usher the audience into an exalted state of creative consciousness by re-creating a timeless myth in visual and musical form.

Timms' is known for her haunting ethereal command of the stage which serves to carry the audience to the deepest divine depths of their own conscious experience.

Timms’ first solo release came in 2013 with the stunning debut album Field of the Host. Subsequent output included a split LP with SYNDROME and split 7" with LYCIA before BLACK MARE's second full-length, Death Magick Mother, hit digital services in September of 2017 with vinyl release coming up on April 20, 2018.

Seven songs in length, Death Magick Mother captures Timms amidst a dynamic cohesion and confluence of inspiration unlike any prior. Whereas previous output operated under a founding principle of rhythmic repetition and atmospheric simplicity toward trance-like escapism, Death Magick Mother is BLACK MARE stepping right in front of the lens for a closeup. Mixed by Andrew Clinco (of DRAB MAJESTY), bolder arrangements lend themselves toward soaring, dynamic vocal melodies and nuanced harmonization to highly-satisfying effect. Spot-on performances and command of all instrumentation across the spectrum further propels the sense of arrival in mastery over her chosen craft. In many ways, this album is an awakening for both its creator and listeners alike.

Nicole Momaney

Nicole Momaney grew up on the edge of a forest and the magic contained within was the epicenter of her childhood. She spent her days chasing after salamanders, frogs, snakes and butterflies, collecting flowers and generally immersing herself in the mysteries of the natural world. An innate affinity for all living things and a love of fairy tales informs her creative and ritual processes to this day. She has been guided into a life of esotericism and painting via messages from nature.

Nicole spent over a decade designing whimsical metal cast pieces for the lauded home decor company Jay Strongwater. It was here she honed her technical artistic skills and developed a love of rich color palettes. Her free time was spent in a very different environment frequenting underground music clubs and dancing the nights away in Brooklyn typically wearing all black; quite a counterpoint to her daytime existence. While these worlds, on the surface, appeared disconnected, she eventually found the threads that wove them together in the study of the esoteric arts, specifically Alchemy, Tarot and the Qabalah. The web of interconnectivity of seemingly disparate matters gradually became apparent.

Today Nicole can be found engaging in a wide array of creative endeavors centered around her passion for esotericism, nature and painting under the epithet Spirited Animals. She has created artwork for several bands such as Black Mare, Ides of Gemini, MGR and Ancestors, and is a very busy portrait artist by commission, in addition to developing her own personal body of work. She is a seasoned vendor at the Bitchcraft Annual Winter Faire. Her personal work is a tapestry of richly colored flora and fauna often placed over a black background. Every element she depicts has a symbolic meaning which, when decoded, reveals a story with one foot in the collective unconscious and the other in her personal mythos. Nicole’s purpose is to shine a light on the hidden messages the natural world is sending us. Every butterfly, every bird, every blade of grass is speaking to you if you just open up and listen.
