Projeto Arcomusical

Projeto Arcomusical is a world music sextet reimagining the berimbau, an Afro-Brazilian musical bow, through unique and powerful chamber music. Arcomusical returns to Constellation to feature new music that will be featured on its second album project, “Rodar na roda.” In particular, this concert will feature the Chicago-premiere of Elliot Cole’s “Roda,” a kaleidoscopic, twenty-minute, four-movement work commissioned thanks to a 2016 Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant. The ensemble will perform an evening of sextets, and will feature new works by Gregory Beyer as well as pieces by composers Alexandre Lunsqui, Kyle Krause, Tobias Wagner, and Jeremy Muller.
“Projeto Arcomusical doesn’t miss a beat. The sextet is so tuned in to one another that at times it becomes difficult (if not impossible) to tell where one instrument ends and another begins. The players are so precise, so blissfully engaged with their instruments and one another that the individual pieces and the individual players melt away, and you begin to discover the uniquely captivating character of the instrument itself.” – Maggie Molloy, Second Inversion
