Dany Laj and the Looks

Dany Laj and the Looks

Songwriter Laj (Lajeunesse), born and bred in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, a rural Canadian gold-mining camp six hours north of Toronto, is no stranger to being a small town kid growing up in a secluded northern town. After three critically acclaimed releases, including 2015's full-length LP 'Word On the Street', Laj is quickly emerging as one of Canada's strongest and most prolific songwriters. Laj's heartfelt power-pop gives nods to tunesmithes like Nick Lowe and Paul Westerberg without straying far from or compromising his own unique perspective. The narrative weaved together by Laj's powerful yet unpretentious lyrics tell the tale of the Northern Canadian kid trying to find his way south, ultimately to Montreal, by way of small towns, big cities, and everywhere in between. With stories of finding love, cross-country tours, and broken down vehicles, ultimately retaining a strong sense of humour and hope which lies within memorably catchy hooks and intertwining harmonies between Laj and bassist Jeanette Dowling, he and his quirky pop sensibilities render Dany Laj and the Looks an unstoppable force just waiting to win your heart.
