Rick D Elia
Originally from Boston, Rick has been a recurring sketch performer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno whose keen observational humor, quick wit & and improv skills lead him to the finals in the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition. People are talking about this kid. So what’s the latest buzz?
rick-d-3“Never heard of him.” — Film critic Jeffery Lyons
“Never heard of him.” —Rick’s father
“As long as he stays the required 500 yards away at all times, I don’t give a rat’s ass what he does!”—Rick’s ex-girlfriend
While maintaining that 500 yard limitation, Rick has appeared on other TV shows such as Comedy Central’s Stand-up Stand-up, Comedians Unleashed, Grand Slam Comedy Jam, National Lampoon’s Funny Money and Starz/Encore’s West Coast Comedy. He has headlined clubs and corporate events all across the country as well as entertained our troops in Japan, Korea, Italy, Bahrain, and Germany.
On the side, Rick performs in a comedy duo called Hits & Giggles with fellow stand-up Adam Stone. Their show combines stand-up comedy, inane banter, and music that draws upon material from the 1960’s right up to present day. Picture a contemporary cross between The Smothers Brothers and Cheech & Chong (without the bong water).
rick-d-2Off-stage, Rick has produced, sold & briefly appeared in three stand-up specials for the Showtime Network: Going Native (9/09), Green Collar Comedy Slam (4/10) and The Godfathers of Comedy (1/11). In 2006 this “wicked die-hahd” Red Sox aficionado had his first book published: How to Talk to a Yankee Fan… a tongue-in-cheek look at the rivalry between the Yankees and the rest of America. His 2nd book, Bathroom Bits, a collection of the “world’s greatest jokes” is currently available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and his website www.rickdelia.com.
Today, in addition to stand-up, Rick is the director, writer, and co-host of the Half Hour Happy Hour – a late night comedy show on the CW Network in northern NV & CA.
Since 1990, Kento-san has been keeping audiences rolling in the aisles with his brand of comedy that focuses on his upbringing and Japanese heritage. Most recently he spent a 5 year stand as a resort comedian for the Sheraton Kaiulani and the Armed Forces resort Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki. His act encompassed audiences from across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Kento is now in his 25th year of doing comedy in the finest comedy clubs and venues. He has performed in Australia and appeared on Australian T.V. Kento has appeared on A&E's Comedy on the Road with John Byner. He has been on dozens of t.v. news and magazine showcases. Currently Kento headlines in his own show: Kento’s Asian Invasian, in Las Vegas at the Clarion Hotels Wolf Theater, formerly the Debbie Reynolds showroom. This weekly show brings Kento and guest comics locally and across the nation. His show also nods at Stand-up’s past by featuring burlesque acts.
Kento's show takes the audience on a personal journey of his ethnic background, through childhood on and involving characterizations of people encountered along the way. His "yellow trash" humor is a highlight of the show, as well as his Chinese impression(redundant). Subjects include Samoans succumbing to the Jedi mind trick, and a narrated trip through the first people zoo.
