BOOTIE LA: Generation X vs. Millennials

Launched in 2003 by San Francisco DJ duo A Plus D — and held down in Los Angeles since 2005 with resident DJ ShyBoy and dance crew R.A.I.D. (Random Acts of Irreverent Dance) -- Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the then-burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup, and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities. Winning various nightlife awards over the years, Bootie celebrates pop culture both past and present, keeping your brain guessing and body dancing with creative song combinations. Mixing and matching every musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party, it's a place where everyone is welcome. And with free mashup CDs given away like candy, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation.

Mysterious D

LA based singer-songwriter ShyBoy possesses the enchanting ability to capture the listener's imagination. The Huffington Post describes his debut single "Bird in Flight" as "stunning" and a "quietly building, gently swinging, electro-dreampop soundscape" and California's Monterey County Weekly writes, "ShyBoy’s understated vocals quickly erupt into full-blown soulful crooning that’s irresistible for eardrums.” An ASCAP Recommends artist and winner of the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Male Vocalist, his songs have appeared in numerous television shows, films, trailers and video games, including the end title for the multiplatinum Devil May Cry 4. ShyBoy is scheduled to perform live during the 2013 CBGB Music Festival taking place in NYC between October 10 and 12. His debut LP, Water on Mars, features collaborations with legendary songwriters Wendy Waldman and Allee Willis, and will be available at all digital retailers on October 8, 2013.

R.A.I.D. (Random Acts of Irreverent Dance)

Random Acts of Irreverent Dance is a radically inclusive and absurdly ambitious dance project, dreamt up in 2006 during a high blood sugar hallucination by Ramie Becker, or as she likes to call herself, the "Dance Commander"-(we humor her and go along with it, it's just easier that way). Starting out as a guerrilla dance collective that terrorized the likes of downtown LA and Hollywood, RAID soon found a home at BootieLA's weekly mashup club at the Echoplex and The Regent ( Now, every Saturday, Random Acts of Irreverent Dance RAIDS (get it, get it?) the Echoplex or Regent stage and imposes their bizarre dance sensibilities on an unsuspecting crowd of BootieLA patrons. With the love and support of Bootie founders, Paul V., Adrian and Deidre Roberts, RAID continues to astound, amaze, bewilder, and delight audiences with our irreverent approach to dance-making and our gold spandexed glory. So as soon as Saturday rolls around, you know where to go. Don't fight, just feel it, and come watch us at BootieLA. Submit to the suit....the gold suit, that is.
