New Brookland Tavern Presents:
Glass Mansions EP Release Featuring IAmDynamite, Bellavida, Watson Village
122 State St.
West Columbia, SC, 29169
Glass Mansions, led by the charismatic and sultry voice of Jayna Doyle, is an Electropop Duo from South Carolina, influenced by modern and 90s pop, heavy synths and tight, dance-friendly rhythms. Their music is propulsive and elastic, with bubbly pop melodies, lush electronic beds of sound and intelligent, intimate lyrics, creating an instantly memorable sound that vibes like Shirley Manson going steady with The Neighbourhood.
IAMDYNAMITE is the spirited, anthemic noise duo of Christopher Martin (guitar, vocals) and Chris Phillips (drums, vocals), two Michigan high school friends raised on the Seattle sound and 80s pop - anything with a beat that makes them move is an influence.
Their name comes from Nietzsche: "I know my fate. One day there will be associated with my name the recollection of something frightful…I am not a man. I am dynamite." In 2008, the band caught the ear of producer Matt Noveskey, who recorded their 2012 debut 'SUPERMEGAFANTASIC' at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Recording Studio in Spicewood, TX, in the Hill Country outside of Austin.
The duo was recorded in the same spirit of their live show, using analog tape and minimal layering.nd playing this music, no one will have fun listening to it," says Phillips.
Bellavida was created when five close friends came to the inevitable conclusion of forming a band during the final year of high school; each member bringing years of unique musical experience to the table. Bellavida's music resembles indie-rock with a pop influence given life through uplifting and acoustic driven melodies. The roots of Bellavida’s sound tap into many genres including... jazz, hard rock, singer-songwriter, indie, and alternative music such as Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, Muse, Amy Winehouse, Grouplove, Cage The Elephant, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their first original and most widely known song, “Look At How She Lays,” was well received by the local community and fueled the creation of the EP, "Letters to Rose." The debut EP was recorded and produced by the masterful Kenny McWilliams at Archer Avenue Studio and truly highlights the mature, skillful, and one-of-kind sound Bellavida has become known for. Since the release of "Letters to Rose," the band has been hard at work performing live shows in the Columbia area as well as devoting time to composing more original tracks. The live show is a stirring performance incorporating original music accompanied by crowd pleasing covers of well-known songs with that unique Bellavida flavor. Thanks for listening.
