Kenny Ray Horton

Musician 1st Class Kenny Ray Horton, born and raised in Rocky Comfort, Mo., joined the Navy Band in 2008. Prior to the Navy Band, he served in Navy Band Great Lakes (2000-2001), Pacific Fleet Band (2005-2007) and Navy Band Mid-South (2007-2008). He attended Crowder Community College in Neosho, Mo., then Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., pursuing a business degree. During those days he worked with handicapped children for the Decatur Park Service and sang with the Decatur Park Singers. Later he moved to Nashville, Tenn., and became a staff writer and demo singer whose co-written song, "A Soldiers King" with John Barlow was sung by Kenny Rogers. It would later become an R.I.A.A. Certified Gold Record.
