CHECKERNECK, Livingmore, Kat Meoz, Furiosa

CHECKERNECK is an LA alternative rock band with elements of grunge and punk. Musical blend of chaos and harmony. Creative, heavy riffs with catchy melodies, driving bass lines, and fast powerful drums. We see our music as authentic expression, a form of freedom that strays from mainstream boredom and monotony.

Los Angeles band, Livingmore are ready to emerge from their cocoon with their debut record, Ok To Land. The band, originated with songwriters Alex Moore and Spencer Livingston meeting thru mutual friends in 2014, they with the help of Mike Schadel on drums and now Rodrigo Moreno on bass are the make-up of Livingmore. Taking cues from several genres from acts such as Garbage and The Kinks to Belle and Sebastian, Moore and Livingston write dreamy, alternative songs that sound like, in their own words - “a mixture of Blondie and The Everly Brothers. From the childlike essence of trying to decide what to do when you grow up in ‘Cocoon,’ to the upbeat and straightforward ‘Never Slow Down,’ to the Melancholic and dreamy ‘Transition,’ Livingmore’s first full length record is a lush collection of indie rock tracks.Their first single from their new record, “Cocoon,” is a whimsical, guitar heavy track, with flourishes of western-tinged riffs that layer over Moore’s crooning vocal melodies. On the inspiration behind the track, Moore notes: "When writing this song I was looking back at childhood and remembering that ‘what will I be when I grow up’ feeling which from the younger perspective can feel like life is this story book type process of start to finish, in comparison to the reality and realization there's no ending to growth just recurring re births of trial and error that often lead you to the next place you need to be,” shares Moore. “Whether it's repeated mistakes or feeling stuck by life's circumstances there's always a faze of feeling cocooned until we evolve once again into butterflies.”The record’s anthemic title track, ‘Really Mean It’ is accompanied by an animated stop motion video created by Moore’s brother, Dillon. “We really just wanted to make a video that was totally organic and back to basics but at the same time unique and fresh. That’s kind of what this band is really about when you get down to it,” he explains.“We never really plan when we’re going to write, we just wait for it to happen,” Livingston notes, while explaining the band’s songwriting process. Each song has a totally organic approach - sometimes born from Livingston playing a melody and Moore composing accompanying lyrics on the spot; other times with both of them writing songs separately and meeting in the middle. Look out for Ok To Land, coming soon.

Kat Meoz blares her garagey blues with an indomitable, quavering tenacity. Kat has found a truly solid combination of quick guitars, devil-may-care bass grooves, and thrilling drum-work which holds on and doesn’t let go. Further proving the talent that comes out of LA, Kat Meoz has been compared to Joan Jett, Janis Joplin, and Brody Dalle.

Furiosa is here to save the day.
