The Blasters exemplify the best traditions of American Music, performing with passion and honesty that for over three decades has won the hearts and souls of fans worldwide. Composed of founding members vocalist-guitarist Phil Alvin, drummer Bill Bateman and bassist John Bazz with Keith Wyatt on guitar, they carry on a hard-won legacy as one of the most recognizable and credible bands in American Music.
Their influences range from the likes of George Jones and Carl Perkins to Ike Turner, Howlin' Wolf, James Brown and Big Joe Turner, all blending into a sound that ignores the lines between Rock & Roll, Country, Blues and Rockabilly.
"Fun On Saturday Night" (Rip Cat Records) is the Blasters' sixth and latest studio album, featuring twelve tracks that extend the band's legacy of classic recordings. Fronted by Phil Alvin's powerful vocals, the band follows through with spontaneity, power and grit that make their live performances into experiences not to be missed.
The String Rays
The String Rays are a northern California "Rockin' Original Americana" quintet that are known for their rythmic verve and poetic drive, who lay down a blend of rich three-part harmonies infused with inspired violin-guitar interplay where "the sting is in the string". The bands shows appeal to broad audiences with musical persona and dancing grooves.
The band coalesced in 2010 when singer-songwriters Dave Monterey (Ruby Moon), Tim Sheehan (Phoenix) and Jeff Suits (The Tickets) joined forces with violinist extraordinaire Rick Loheyde (assistant conductor Santa Rosa Symphony) and drummer Dan Ransford (Flatt Lonesome). 2014 brought a change in personnel with bassist Kent Fossgreen joining the band.
Now here's a bit of history we'd like to share. Thirty-five years prior to forming TSR, Dave and Tim created music together in a Cotati chicken coop performing in a band called Patriots of the Heartland. Two of the songs featured on their new CD, Catfish and Friends And Lovers, are old friends from those early years.
Members of The String Rays have shared stages with Delbert McClinton, Randy Meisner (of The Eagles), Commander Cody, The Moonlighters, Norton Buffalo and Maria Muldaur. They've played numerous fairs, festivals and clubs including the Marin and Sonoma County Fairs, Gravenstein Apple Fair, Apple Blossom Festival, art and wine festivals in Novato, Walnut Creek and Fairfax, the Mystic Theater, Rancho Nicasio, Lagunitas Brewery, Aubergine After Dark, Gaia's Garden, 19 Broadway, the Freight & Salvage, Ledson Winery and KRSH Backyard concerts.
In addition to their original material TSR perform innovative renditions from artists such as The Beatles, The Band, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Delbert McClinton Rodney Crowell and many other inspirations.
When The String Rays play - everyone has a good time!
