Gerald Veasley’s musical odyssey has taken him to the top of the contemporary music world as a bassist, bandleader, composer, producer and educator. He has recorded and/or performed with many of the world’ stop performers in many genres of music such as; Chuck Loeb, Maysa, Kim Waters, Nick Colionne, Special EFX, Pieces of a Dream, McCoy Tyner, Gerald Levert, Teddy Pendergrass, Nnenna Freelon, Philip Bailey, the Dixie Hummingbirds, John Blake, Phil Perry, Will Downing and Pat Martino. His performance as a bassist has been top shelf, as his memorable work with the late, great Grover Washington Jr., Joe Zawinul, and the Jaco Pastorius Big Band attests.
When not collaborating with notable artists, Gerald tours and records with his band, which features some of the top musicians in the country. Gerald’s recordings as a bandleader are: Look Ahead, Signs, Soul Control, Love Letters, On The Fast Track, Velvet, Live at The Jazz Base, Your Move and The Electric Mingus Project.
Veasley teaches the history and fundamentals of the electric bass to musicians and educators, both privately and at the university level. He is on the faculty of the University of the Arts (Philadelphia) and is founder and artistic director of Gerald Veasley’s Bass BootCamp, nurturing a growing army of bassists from all skill levels.
Gerald is currently curator of the “Unscripted Jazz Series” with special guests such as Kirk Whalum, Raul Midón, Alex Bugnon, Maysa and Gerald Albright. He is in the process of producing two projects, “The Purple House” and songs from his musical ties to Philadelphia. Whether he is performing, recording, collaborating, or teaching, Gerald brings a joyous, polished professionalism to the process of making music.
Donald Robinson, is an established presence in the music industry. He spent seven years as Keyboardist and Music Director for Grover Washington Jr and has played keyboards with jazz artist such as Gerald Veasley, Kirk Whalum, Kim Waters, Chuck Loeb, Najee, Stevie Wonder, Will Downing, Rick Braun, Walter Beasley, Eric Madriathal, Andy Snizer, Eric Darius and many others. His Productions credits include three #1 songs on the Billboard R&B charts, and he has arranged, written and /or produced songs for Nancy Wilson, Phyllis Hyman, Vanessa L.Williams, Rachelle Ferell, Stephiane Mills, Phil Perry, Gladys Knight, Tisha Williams, Jasmine Guy, Dawnn Lewis, and many more.
Mr Robinson has secured publishing deals with both EMI Music Publishing Company and Motown Jobete Music, Inc. He is an active member of BMI and ASCAP, and has serve as a board member of the Phila.Chapter Of NARAS of the Grammy Recording Academy. He is an accomplished performer and writer, having been selected to play keyboards on the 2 x Grammy winning CD Standing In the Shadow Of Motwn tour, as well as tour with bassist Gerald Veasley. His song "Constantly" recorded by Vanessa Williams and most recently recorded by Nina Girado ( 7x's Platinum female vocalist). Constantly can be seen on YouTube with over 1.2 million hits and counting.
In addtional to his duties with S.O.W. Productions, Mr Robinson is the Director Of Contemporary Music at Narberth Presbyterian Church in Narberth, PA. He is the husband of Carrie Robinson and the father of 3 children. ( Lyrica, Jacquelyn and Donald Jr.) He Graduated with a degree in the Fine Arts from the University Of The Arts in Philadelphia, Pa and an Associate Of Arts at Community College Of Philadephia.
