June Millington, known especially as the guitarist in the band Fanny, will read from her book "Land of a Thousand Bridges ~ Island Girl in a Rock 'n Roll World" and play live with drummer Lee Madeloni.
Musically, June's arc began with ukelele in the Philippines with her sister Jean (they are Filipina-American), continuing with their high school band in Sacramento in the 60's; and into Hollywoood with the band Fanny, recording four albums from 1969-1973 with Richard Perry and Todd Rundgren (one at the Beatles Apple Studio in London). June co-founded and currently teaches at IMA - the Institute for the Musical Arts - outside of Northampton, MA: the 5 colleges area. IMA is a non-profit institute for women and girls in music whose goal is to PLAY IT FORWARD in every way they can to future generations. With four Rock 'n Roll Girl's Camps each summer at "The Magical Queendom", one of them a Recording Camp, IMA is an ongoing success story that has built itself from the ground up since 1987. All profits from "Land of a Thousand Bridges" and this performance go to support IMA's programming.
