Since its founding in 2010, Picnic Theatre's sold-out productions include Moliere's The Hypochondriac, Moliere's The Misanthrope, An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe, An Evening with Anton Chekhov, Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The Rivals, Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband, Moliere's Tartuffe The Hypocrite, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, Langdon Mitchell's the New York Idea, H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace, Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, Lux Radio's Casablanca, An Evening in the Twilight Zone, and Noel Coward's Hay Fever. Picnic Theatre audience goers enjoy one-act cocktail and garden party performances of classic plays in beautiful and exciting venues such as Dupont Underground, Dumbarton House; the Phillips Collection; Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House; Woodlawn mansion, first site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; City Tavern Club; the Washington Club, the University Club, and the Hill Center on Capitol Hill, with refreshments and music. Washington professionals by day, the all-volunteer Picnic Theatre players donate proceeds of the plays to historical preservation of the venues and to arts and education charities.

On Sunday December 10, please join Dupont Underground and the Picnic Theatre Company of Washington DC for a one-night only pop-up cocktail + Agatha Christie's murder mystery, The Unexpected Guest, in a historic subterranean art space!  Be transported to a foggy estate in Wales in 1958, and the scene of a heinous crime.  Lost in the fog, a stranger seeks refuge in a dark mansion, only to find himself in a murder scene! As each quirky member of the isolated household of suspects is questioned one by one, investigators reveal a tangled web of lies, family secrets and chilling motives.
