Walk Talk is Mayteana Morales and David Bailis. They have been playing together for almost a decade in Pimps of Joytime and many other projects. They finally found themselves writing original music. Walk Talk is best described as a culmination of time, genres, travels, rhythms, dances, love variations and soul vibrations. It cannot easily be defined. The sounds aim straight for the heart with the knowledge that we are all connected by shared experiences and that each beat and melody should not taken for granted.
Sandra Lilia Velásquez and Sean Dixon, the Brooklyn-based duo behind SLV, embody a collision of worlds. Velásquez serves as frontwoman of lauded Latin outfit Pistolera, while Dixon plays drums in experimental electronic ensemble Zammuto; but together, they’ve carved out an exciting new path for themselves.
SLV first emerged from the studio in 2013 with a debut EP, Dig Deeper, produced by heavyweight bassist Meshell Ndegeocello. Their full length debut,This Kind (released on 5.5.15), is a down-tempo confection of 80s-inspired synthpop and new wave, with Velásquez showcasing her continued growth as a songwriter and dreamy vocals that recall Sade’s smoky sensuality.
STEFA* is a vocal artist and performer focused on the intersection of politics, the self and her cultures. Born, raised, and currently living in Queens,NY, she relishes in taking apart language and classical structures through sonic layering and improvisation. By projecting new narratives, she is taking back her power. As part of TrueQue Residencia Artistica (Ayampe, Ecuador 2017), she facilitated her first voice workshop, Primitive Songs//Cantos Primitivos after studying for voice for 20 years. Recently she traveled to Vienna, Austria where she performed as part of American Realness at wiener festwochen's 'performeum'. Sounds to expect: rumbling jungle rhythm&blues opera of the diaspora. Debut EP Spring 2018.
