ill Fated Natives
Grit, raw passion, and a sense of struggle pumps through the veins of the Philadelphia based power trio, ill Fated Natives. Every member of the ill Fated Natives has an intimate and vastly unique musical history that has Philadelphia at its core. This translates to the high energy performances that the band has become known for in Philly’s underground music scene. With hard hitting, bluesy soul music that features hints of jazz and afro-caribbean flavor, ill Fated Natives has swiftly become an act to watch.
Kingsley Ibeneche was born and raised in Camden, NJ. His parents are originally from Nigeria. At the age of 18 Kingsley fell in love with dance. He would later attend the University of the Arts. After graduation he lived and performed in Germany for a year. Germany is where he realized he wanted to deeper pursue singing and writing. Currently Mr. Ibeneche is performing in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas where he is crafting a sound called Soul-Experimental. Along side him are his band mates Lee Clarke (Keys, Guitar, and Bass), and Kevin Ripley (Drums, Percussion, and Pad).
Little Strike is the alias of Israeli musician Tamar Dart, based currently in Philadelphia. Self described as a World Electronic Folk musician, the project feels like a collage, with guitars that conjure West African finger-styles, atop a bed of grimy beats. The vocals encourage the listener to go on a nostalgic walkabout around the world, with lyrics in Spanish, Hebrew, French & Wolof. She performs with bass, trumpet and percussion players.
Born and raised in a politically charged environment, Dart and her family decided to relocate to Miami when she was 15. After graduating with a BFA in multimedia arts, Dart traded the US for East Asia, where she traveled and worked in China, Thailand, and Nepal for a year. In the summer of 2013 she settled in Philadelphia where she recorded her first EP, Forever Always Leaving, released the following year. She is currently playing shows and recording music for an upcoming EP.
