Kweku Collins is a 20-year-old rapper/producer/songwriter from Evanston, IL that has been making music for most of his life. Born into a musical family, Kweku joined his dad on-stage playing African drums as early as the age of 4. As a teenager, Kweku transitioned to making his own music, crafting bedroom classics throughout high school. In 2015, just shy of his high school graduation, Kweku joined the Chicago's indie rap outfit Closed Sessions, and shortly after released his debut EP, Say It Here While It's Safe. The EP received critical praise and landed Kweku on Pigeons and Planes "20 Rappers Under 20" list. In 2016, Kweku followed up with Nat Love -- a proper LP that garnered an 8.0 Pitchfork review, produced a Pitchfork Best New Track, and landed Kweku in publications such as The FADER, Billboard, Chicago Reader, and more. Kweku's latest release, Grey, is available now via iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, and other digital retailers.
Based out of Chicago, 20 year-old Femdot has established himself as a front runner for the next wave of Hip-Hop royalty coming out of the city. The sky is the limit for the young MC. Listed in the "20 Chicago artists to look out for in 2016" by the Chicago's heavy hitting publication Lyrical Lemonade. A founding member of the Collective GRWYF$ (Get Rich With Your Friends) which was featured in The Source Magazine for their collective project "The Twenty EP", it's only a certain amount of time before Femdot leaves the local scene for a much more fitting global stage.
Fem separates himself with natural display of lyrical ability that is only matched by his eccentric and charismatic delivery. A true student of game, Femdot has been writing lyrics since the Tender age of 6 years old, and it is definitely evident the seasoned artistry displayed despite his rather young age.
A student in the literal sense as well, Femdot is currently attending DePaul University in great academic standing while studying Biological Sciences. A well rounded student and even better entertainer, there is no limit to where is his ambition and persistence will take him.
Between labs and classes, Femdot still manages to release ground breaking music including his critically acclaimed "The King Dilla EP", which truly displays his versatility as an artist through blending elements of rap, R&B and rock. In fact after hearing the project itstheland.com said, "the level of lyricism and delivery that [he] has is going to do some real construction to the blueprint of the Chicago music scene."
Femdot has definitely hit the ground and has no intention of slowing down. And is set to make a large impact on the culture of the art is which he loves so much.
