The Echo Presents
Prettiest Eyes Record Release Party
Sister Mantos, Hooveriii, DJ Boss Harmony
1822 W Sunset Blvd
Los Angeles, California, 90026
This event is 18 and over
Prettiest Eyes operates as a three piece. Members Pachy (Drums & Vocals) and Marcos (Bass) from San Juan, Puerto Rico met Paco Casanova (Keyboards & Electronics) from Juarez, Mexico and decided to form the second phase of the band after the original keyboardist Love Juice decided to leave the group shortly after its initial emergence. Based in Los Angeles, California the band crafts a notoriously popular live show that blends elements of Psych-Punk, Noise, Krautrock and Industrial with a solid blues-based backbone. The end result is loaded with razor-sharp elements and buzzing keyboards processed through effect pedals for an excruciating crunch.
When Sister Mantos takes the stage, their psychedelic blend of LATIN BEATS, PUNK ATTITUDE, and FUNK RHYTHMS invigorate the crowd to dance, sing and rejoice.
Sister Mantos sings songs in Spanish and English about love, QUEER & POC empowerment, and utopias that are free of war and oppression.
Sister Mantos is a solo performance band or a huge orchestra depending on the time and place but a guaranteed party either way.
Audiences are sent on a spaced out psychedelic road trip and treated to mystical experience of spastic dancing, bumping beats, and POSITIVE ENERGY.
Originally started as an alias for a solo music/art performance project by Oscar Miguel Santos in 2008, Sister Mantos has transformed into a live band multi-instrumental band that traverses sonic genres.
Hooveriii is Bert Hoover(Mind Meld/Jesus Sons) & friends. The drum machine has been destroyed. The 4-track demos recorded in the living room have been smashed. The group includes(but not limited to) GuitarguitarSaxsynthsynthdrumslonghairbass. Ready or not!!
DJ Boss Harmony
Punky Reggae Party features musical selections from the punk & post-punk period between 1977 - 1982 (although other era's, sub-genres & pre-punk influences are often represented), as well as Jamaican music from the ska, rock steady & roots reggae era's, respectively. Many of the British post-punk bands were influenced by reggae music & it's recording techniques, and that experimental spark is the nucleus of the show. Punky Reggae Party started when David Orlando (Boss Harmony) and Jason Mason of Dub Club, teamed up with Michael Stock And Ben White of Part Time Punks in 2006. Existing & developing at various venues in Downtown, Los Angeles, it ultimately found a home at La Cita Bar (now promoted & DJ'd solely by David & Michael). Many bands (both punk and reggae) have performed throughout the years, and a few have cited it (PRP) as their favorite place to play. The DJ's are avid vinyl lovers, so new records are got & played every week. There ARE some staples, however, which include recordings by bands like, PIL, The Wailers, The Clash, Culture, The Specials, Black Uhuru, The Slits, The Skatalites, The Ramones, The Pop Group, and many, many others.
