Imagine you took Jersey Club and covered it in candy paint, smacked it on its ass, and told it to break something. Trippy Turtle is a mystery man taking your favorite hip-hop songs and turning them into fired-up, swirly versions of themselves. He's a rare sight, who started as a drummer in a Norwegian pond when he was a hatchling.
The genre was born in Baltimore, cultivated in NJ cities like Newark, and now has reached the EDM scene en masse. 4 years ago, Trippy Turtle emerged as an anonymous artist, displaying a pixelated turtle on each of his release covers.
It’s been nearly 4 years since we’ve gotten an original tune from the turtle, who only original track “Trippy’s Theme” was release on Diplo’s Mad Decent back in 2014. Since then he’s kept the turtle alive dropping bootleg remixes “turtle style” (unannounced on Soundcloud) Today, he is arguably the most watched Jersey Club producers - headlining this years EDC Las Vegas on the mainstage at sunrise.
"I’m Dan, I like Bass Music..."
As an already well-established dj in the southeast, Thedanbrown decided to jump into the production game with a project called Clerks in the late summer of 2012. Armed with roots in Metal/Dirty South Hip Hop/old School Jungle and even Classical (Dan is a classically trained Cellist); Clerks look to provide a Bass heavy approach with plenty of melody to keep it interesting.
Starting off with a mixtape of all original productions and a few free remixes the Clerks sound was unleashed. In November of 2012 His Debut E.P. “Temple of Time” was released on local legend Charlie P.’s Abstract Logic Recordings. Clerks next release was "Be Here" featuring the vocal talents of one of the most respected MC's in the Scene - Armanni Reign. Released on the Sine language Imprint along with remixes from Fellow ATL heavyweights Logam and HPNTK. An all original Mixtape with long time collaborator Paul Swytch of TRiLLBASS Was Featured on Do Androids Dance. 20 Original tracks featuring the likes of General Jah Mikey, The Wheeler Boys, Mighty High Coup, Charlie P. and a few other special guests was released in 2014.
2014 Saw the Creation of the collective known as The Block Society with Clerks on the Roster and several single track releases. The Block Society is Rooted in ATL but includes a worldwide group of forward thinking producers and DJs. Solid Artist and Label Management will Push Clerks ever Forward in 2015.
