J. Roddy Walston and The Business 3 NIGHT PASS

J Roddy Walston And The Business

Specializing in a classic-sounding Southern rock/Americana style that emphasizes songwriting and danceable kinetics instead of empty hipness and trendy pop gimmicks, J. Roddy Walston and the Business have returned with “The Wanting”, their first new single in four years, and the follow-up to their break-out 2013 album, Essential Tremors.

Between albums, the band ceaselessly toured the US, opening for The Lumineers and Cage the Elephant while performing riotous sets at Lollapalooza, Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo and more. They also rocked featured TV performances on Late Night with David Letterman, Conan and an Austin City Limits episode which they shared with The Black Keys.

The band's fourth studio album, to be released in fall 2017, came to life in their own Richmond, VA recording studio, and was co-produced Phil Ek on a following trip to Seattle, WA (Band Of Horses, The Walkmen, The Shins), and mixed by M. Allen Parker (Dan Auerbach).

“I personally fell in love with writing music again,” Walston explained. “It took awhile but once I realized I had room to try things that I had never tried before, I became addicted to the process.” He elaborated further by explaining how “The Wanting” describes the relationship of an estranged father and son: “Even though it is a dark song with a brutal ending, I find hope and beauty in the idea of these two people that had a shared sense of both regret and longing for each other.”
