Tullie Brae Band
The soulful blues singer and multi-instrumentalist credits her gift to her roots in gospel music, like so many great and soul singers before her. Her musical journey started when she began singing in church where her Dad was a preacher. She played piano, drums, bass and guitar and early on assumed the role of choir director. Her artistic reputation grew within the gospel community which led to touring professionally with gospel groups.
Not only are Tullie's influences steeped in gospel music, while traveling and performing she was influenced by the sounds of Blues, Soul, Country and Rock 'n Roll. If you were privy to Tullie's ipod "favorites", you would discover a broad spectrum of musical genres and eras. A few of the artists include Elvis Presley, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton, Etta James, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Joe Bonamassa, Melissa Etheridge, India Arie and Paul Thorn.
You may have recently seen Tullie and her band on the Main Stage at the King Biscuit Blues Festival. You may have also seen her perform at the Garvin Gate Festival, The Juke Joint Festival, Smoke on the Water-Blues For A Cause and many more other great festivals. She has also headlined multiple club dates such as Hard Rock Café, B.B. King's, Slippery Noodle, B.B.'s Lawnside, Club Ebony while also performing on television and radio. While on tour she has opened for the Blues King himself, B.B. King, celebrating his birthday. Tullie has enjoyed sharing the stage with artists such as Paul Thorn, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Ruthie Foster, Chicago Rhythm and Blues Kings, Bobby Rush, Cedric Burnside, Lightnin' Malcolm, Jimbo Mathus, Jimmy Thackery, Big Jack Johnson and Terry "Harmonica" Bean among many more talented artists. You will see and feel Tullie's heart and soul during her performances, whether it's her original material or a cover that has been "Tullie-ized".
The Doug Hart Band
The Doug Hart Band has been a major force in the southwest Ohio blues scene for several years. Doug constantly strives to put forth the best product and deliver the best show possible. The band incorporates free form, yet controlled versions of many blues standards along with the blending of Doug’s blues and rock influences to form creative original compositions.
Having played several major festivals and as winners of the 2013 Dayton Blues Challenge, 2014 Black Swamp Blues Challenge, several 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the Cincinnati and Columbus Blues Challenges and semifinalists in the 2013 & 2014 International Blues Challenge, they have proven over and over they can take the stage with anyone.
He has enlisted the veteran talents of bassist Mike Hausfeld and drummer Oscar Bernal to complete his band. Together, they never fail to amaze their audience with the soul and passion of their performance… The Doug Hart Band will definitely leave you wanting more.
Tempted Souls Band
Tempted Souls brings together a wide range of backgrounds and talents to play an eclectic blend of soul, rock, classic R&B, blues, and standards with a blues feel. The members of Tempted Souls pride themselves on performing songs that are somewhat obscure or eclectic, but still approachable and usually danceable.
Formed by guitarist Mark Bubash, Tempted Souls have been around the Cincinnati music scene since 2004. The band was ranked in the top ten at the Cincy Blues Challenge five times and was invited to play as many times at the Cincy Blues Fest. The band has also headlined many other local and regional festivals.
Guitarist Mark Bubash grew up in a musical family, and has played many bands over the years, including Little Chicago. Drummer John Griffin played in Rare Form and met Mark when they played together in their church band.
Lil Red & The Rooster
"Excellent vocals backed by top-notch players, what else could one ask for? They have an obvious admiration and genuine feel for the blues. No bumps in this blues road as it is a seamless project that makes no wrong turns." --Blues Blast Magazine 2015
Lil’ Red found a French Rooster … Pascal Fouquet. This Rooster brought together some prize French Coqs including harmonicist Thomas Troussier, Bassist Jeff Vincendeau and drummer Denis Agenet.
These lean charming Frenchies churn out some fat traditional electric band blues including Jump, Boogie, Chicago, Texas, Post-war Rhythm & Blues and have been known to get a little jazzy always with a sheen of what Lil’ Red calls “punk blues”. Originals and covers of Memphis Slim, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, Lazy Lester, T-Bone Walker, Little Willie John and Andre Williams.
This group came together for the first time in the studio for the recording of their debut CD “Out Of The Coop!”, then premiered live at Le Nuit du Blues in Caen, France to an audience of 1,200. These fine-tuned artists led by Lil’ Red have an itch in their tail feathers and are ready to crow!!!!
Ben Levin & The Heaters
Pianist and vocalist BEN LEVIN built an impressive resume by the time he was in his teens: performing regularly with his father's band The Heaters; special guest on several occasions at the annual Piano Stomp held in Iowa City by fellow pianist Chase Garrett; and as part of the lineup at both the Arches Boogie Piano Stage (part of the Cincy Blues Fest) and Ricky Nye’s Sixteenth Annual Blues & Boogie Piano Summit. Now, Ben is a formidable musician performing on a weekly basis around the Greater Cincinnati area.
BEN LEVIN & THE HEATERS will be bringing the sounds of Chicago blues, boogie woogie and New Orleans to the Southgate House Revival. It will be a special show, with Roger Bates on drums, Ben’s father Aron Levin on guitar, and Chris Douglas on upright bass.
Brian Keith Wallen
Singer-Songwriter Brian Keith Wallen is on the road all the time. From coast to coast and beyond, Brian is spreading his blend of blues-influenced acoustic music across the world. His award winning combination of storytelling and lightning licks on guitar will never let you forget his name. In just a few years, Brian has released multiple albums and performed over 1,000 shows in 26 states.
Brian won 2nd place in the 2015 International Blues Challenge, ranking in the top two out of hundreds of artists from all over the world. He was also named "Artist of the Year" by the Starr-Gennett Foundation. Brian has brought his foot-stomping, one-man show to timeless treasures, such as Dollywood and the Ryman Auditorium. He will be touring Europe in Spring 2017.
