The Kickback

THE KICKBACK enters the front ranks of contemporary rock ‘n’ roll with their sophomore album WEDDINGS & FUNERALS (Jullian Records). Produced by Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello, WAVVES) it is a furious, exhilarating, and deeply emotional collection that captures the roller coaster of shared human experiences that bring us together. Comprised of Billy Yost (guitar), Jonny Ifergan (guitar), and Dan Leu (bass), Chicago-based The Kickback tour hard as one of the best live acts out there, lighting it up with a litany of great songs, countless headline shows, festival showcases, and gigs alongside such diverse peers as Here We Go Magic, Manic Street Preachers, Miracle Legion, Tokyo Police Club, and Bush.

The bi-coastal rockers who formed in Venice, CA. have hit the ground running on their journey to success. Landing an unfinished demo of their song “NY Anthem” in the hands of RZA, the Wu-Tang Clan mastermind, Faulkner captured the hip hop God’s interest, leading to their first major collaboration. As a result, the track can be heard at the New York Yankees home games.

But New York isn’t the only place giving them love. Emphasizing the term “bi-coastal,” the rockers have also been featured on iconic L.A. radio station KROQ for their single “I’m Stoned.”

Recording their yet-to-be-released debut album, at Rick Rubin’s Shangri La studio & East West, RZA and co-producers Mark Needham (The Killers) and JP Bowersock (The Strokes) perfected the distinctive irreverence of Faulkner’s first record.

The LP offers an unapologetic subversive sound, as it tastefully blends lyrical rawness with powerful rhythm, polished percussion, and technical precision. The musical chemistry between Lucas Asher, Eric Scullin, Dimitri Farougias and Christian Hogan is undeniable, and Street Axioms is an irrefutable demonstration of such.

“This record is a soundtrack from the times I lived on the streets in Brooklyn and all the harsh realities of a dislocated childhood and isolation of youth,” says Asher.

With surprise collaborations and a slew of up coming performances following the mid-summer release of their debut record Street Axioms, Faulkner is set to issue their anticipated EP titled Revolutionary, giving us a glimpse of the music that’s to come. "

Half Alive

half•alive formed in 2016 in Long Beach, CA. The independent band started as the product of a 50-song challenge that Josh Taylor, the band's leader and principle song writer had completed in early 2016. Josh wrote 50 songs in hopes of improving his skill as a songwriter. With the help of drummer, Brett Kramer and Grammy nominated producer James Krausse, a few of the songs came alive in the Mojave Desert, inside a helicopter hanger that had been redesigned as a recording studio, where the band recorded its debut EP. "the fall" is number 41 on the 50 song list, and is the first single from a 3 song debut EP, being released for free, exclusively through all streaming sites.
