Brika can best be called a natural consequence of her unique surroundings. She was born and raised in Miami, a city known for its eclectic mix of musical influences, her music shows a categorical refusal to be boxed into any one genre or movement. Her body of work can be work characterized by simple, cryptic lyricism and minimalistic production, all of which are expounded on in fresh and innovative ways through the power of song. This is the result of her fruitful collaboration with producer/composer Julio Reyes Copello (Nelly Furtado, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony), whose independent label/studio, Art House Records, provided a comfortable, productive environment to explore her intuitions and personality through music. Thematically, her mind seems attached to a few key fixations (loss, psychology, and the nature of truth), giving her work an intensely personal quality. As a result, her songs have become incredibly relatable with the general public without compromising or sacrificing their integrity.
Voice Memos, Brika's first album, is an auspicious debut indicative of this sonic journey, a manifestation of her astonishing development as a singer/songwriter. Brika's music has made waves across the Internet having: topped the top 5 of Hype Machine's Popular Chart over ten times leading to the site's exclusive premiere of the album at the end of 2014 and "Expectations" featured in their Zeitgeist 2014, accumulated millions of plays, been featured on Spotify playlists worldwide and by iTunes in their 'Must Listen To' List, and plus, Voice Memos debuted in the top 100 of CMJ's first Top 200 chart of 2015; all while receiving excellent critical notices and attention for its polished production, smooth vocals, and interesting mesh of electronic and organic elements.
And now, after creating buzz around the world with her distinct vision, and selected by tastemakers Indie Shuffle and HillyDilly as a Top 10 Artist To Watch in 2015, Brika is looking forward to share new songs and connect live with the followers across world.
Overcoats is New York-based female duo Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell. Their sound captivates, combining electronic backdrops with soaring, harmonic intimacy — a sort of Chet Faker meets Simon & Garfunkel. Overcoats' songs draw strength from vulnerability, finding uplifting beauty in simple, honest songwriting.
Their self-titled debut EP released in June 2015 felt magnetic, attracting critics and fans alike. Its four tracks are smooth, dark, and spacious. Wrapped in dusky reverb, the duo's voices glide over shivering chords and minimal electronics. Smaller than My Mother andThe Fog surge with dance-floor energy, while Little Memory and Walk On unfold in gentle, soulful waves.
This debut EP catapulted Overcoats across the Atlantic into a three-month tour. Their most notable performances included showcases in London, a headline show at Dublin's renowned Whelan's, and a set at Longitude Festival alongside the likes of James Blake, Hozier, and Ibeyi. The duo returned to New York in November to play a packed room at Mercury Lounge. Overcoats is now based in New York, performing and recording new material in studio.
Katelyn Tarver is a singer and actress from Glennville, GA now living in Los Angeles. Having penned UK #1 single ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ for Cheryl Cole, Katelyn dropped her own single ‘Weekend Millionaires’ last year attracting remixes from the likes of Young Bombs, Samuraii and Skizzy Mars. She went on to feature on the Lost Kings single ‘You’ and most recently released her own single 'What Do We Know Now’ which was premiered by Zane Lowe on BEATS1. Her forthcoming 'Tired Eyes EP’ via Duly Noted Records (Cloves, Black Honey) includes tracks produced by BURNS (Ellie Goulding, Britney Spears) and Ludwig Goransson (HAIM, Childish Gambino). Having starred in Brian Burton/Danger Mouse’s directorial debut 'The Chauffeur' last year, Katelyn’s next TV project sees her set to star alongside Bella Thorne in the forthcoming network TV show ‘Famous In Love’, premiering early 2017 on Freeform.
Salt Cathedral is the electronic project of New York based Colombian musicians Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada. Their music combines elements of trip-hop and ambient genres with folkloric influences from many cultures. The band's most recent record, "Oom Velt," makes reference to the individuality of experience – the discrete "worlds" as they are experienced by different organisms. Guardian UK, in their coverage of the EP's lead single "Holy Soul," describes Salt Cathedral as "purveyors of breezy electronic pop with lightly tropical rhythms and deathlessly pretty vocals''.
Salt Cathedral has performed alongside acts like Hundred Waters, Young and Sick, Tei Shi, Until The Ribbon Breaks, Sonnymoon and Cibo Matto. Onstage, the band combines live instrumentals, electronics, and choreographed lighting to create an immersive environment of "crackling energy" (Pitchfork).
Blonde Maze is a NY-based indie-electronic artist who, after spending two years documenting her travels between New York & London with synths, bells, and vocals, compiled four of her most personal tracks to form her debut release, the Oceans EP.
Oceans was released in May of 2015 and represents the love, pain, excitement, and longing that comes with being an ocean away from someone or something dear to you. Each track portrays a different phase along this transatlantic journey.
Oceans has received rave reviews from blogs including The Deli Magazine and Earmilk, charted in the Top 50 on Hype Machine's 'Popular' chart as well as Top 25 in 'No Remixes', and has received international online and terrestrial radio airplay.
Singer and songwriter Angelica Garcia's journey "down the rabbit hole" began when she moved to Accomac, Virginia. Graduating from Los Angeles School for the Arts, the 17-year-old native Angeleno found herself living in a 200-year-old gothic brick home encircled by magnolia trees and under a blanket of bright stars. Her stepfather traded a career in the music industry for Episcopalian priesthood, and an Eastern Shore church would serve as his (and the family's) first congregation. Isolated and alone, Angelica locked herself in the parish house and fashioned a musical world that veers between ghostly gorgeous countrified blues and sly swamp Americana. With a childlike whimsy, quirky sense of humor, and dynamic delivery, it could easily soundtrack an apparitions' ball in some Faulknerian mansion. Upon first listen, it entranced Warner Bros. Records. Recorded by Charlie Peacock [The Civil Wars, Switchfoot] in Nashville, her full-length debut Medicine For Birds unlocks this world for everyone in 2016.
Hi my name is Graham Stevenson and I make music under the name Grumpus.
The 502s is a folk band based out of Orlando, FL. It is comprised of three cousins and an interloper with an eerily similar Italian last name.
Michael Daves' Wax Lion
Michael was born in 1977 in the southern empire of Atlanta, Georgia. Soon after, he began to make loud noises, so his loving parents put music instruments in front of him. It was a good plan. He grew up in that grand tradition of staying up late & singing real loud. Although he's since moved north, the humid south remains in heart and sinus cavities.
